Hollywood Liberals Unhinge After Senate Rejects Gun Control

Michael Chapman reports at CNSNews.com:
Duck Dynasty star Jase Robertson said he agreed that there is a large market for pro-family, pro-Christian shows like Duck Dynasty, and "they’ll be more shows" like it because if Hollywood can get millions of people to watch and "start making money," then it will "figure out a way to reproduce it."
He added that it would "be difficult" to reproduce a show exactly like Duck Dynasty, but a program that is "something the whole, entire family can enjoy, and it's clean and good" will come, they are "on the horizon."
Ken McIntyre and Alissa Tabirian write at The Foundry:
Twin brothers whose Christian beliefs on marriage and the sanctity of life got their real estate show canceled by a cable network before it ever aired say they’re open to other TV offers if "the free market" will allow it.
Pressure generated by a left-wing website led to HGTV’s dropping Flip It Forward, the show that was to feature David and Jason Benham. The unstated reason: One or both twins expressed what they consider Bible-based views in support of marriage as a man-woman union and in opposition to abortion on demand.
Now, though, one or more other networks could make a play for the Benham brothers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A dispatch by Paul Bond identifies INSP -- a "traditional values" television outlet that reaches 75 million household -- as one suitor.
Comment (updated, from my Facebook page):
I would like to see this show make it to the air. The Benham brothers have been attacked for remaining true to marriage (as opposed to marriage counterfeits) and respectful of all humans (even the preborn!).
Their views are consistent with science, biology, the Declaration of Independence (unalienable rights), and sound ethics rooted in verifiable information from a knowable Creator who welcomes questions and dialogue from free-thinking human beings.
Unfortunately, homosexual activists and their allies are so into their agenda that they have abandoned the rules of freedom in pursuit of what they want.
Not surprisingly, having abandoned the rules of freedom, homosexualists now impose unfreedom -- they oppress, silence, castigate, and condemn.
Not exactly "gay," if you ask me. More like victimizer than victim, if you ask me.
A people of freedom and dignity questions this.
In the face of such rage and ugliness, yes, we ask questions.
Intelligence revolts.

Alex Pappas reports at The Daily Caller:
Meet the well-funded advocacy network of liberal groups that orchestrated the successful ouster of the Benham Brothers from HGTV.
Until last week, David and Jason Benham were set to host a new home-renovation show on the Home and Garden Television network, called Flip It Forward.
But all that changed after an obscure website called Right Wing Watch drew negative attention to the Benham's conservative views on abortion and gay marriage. The website vilified the hosts with the headline, "HGTV Picks Anti-Gay, Anti-Choice Extremist For New Reality TV Show."
"The story shed light on how the hosts' father, Flip Benham, is an outspoken evangelical minister who leads an anti-abortion group," the DC reports. "It also revealed that one of the hosts, David Benham, led a prayer rally in Charlotte during the Democratic National Convention, and has spoken out against gay marriage."
According to The Daily Caller, "A number of news outlets credited Right Wing Watch with drawing attention to the Benham’s pro-life, pro-traditional marriage views."
You may be wondering "What is Right Wing Watch and who is behind it? The answer," the DC reports, is the "anti-Christian conservative effort in Hollywood."
Right Wing Watch is a "project of the liberal advocacy group People for the American Way, which started with an assist from the left-wing Tides Foundation," The DC explains."
"People for the American Way was founded with help from former television Norman Lear, a Hollywood executive producer credited with starting the anti-Christian-right movement in the 1980s," the DC continues.
"This left-wing network of groups -- and the people who run them -- have been connected to past campaigns to silence television personalities who have expressed conservative beliefs on social issues," according to the DC.
"The president of People for the American Way is Michael Keegan, a founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD)," the DC reports. "GLAAD was involved in last year’s unsuccessful effort to permanently remove Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty after his well-publicized comments about gays."

Mark Tooley writes at American Spectator:
There’s been a strange controversy over the now rescinded Oscar nomination for Alone Yet Not Alone, the song by quadriplegic Christian author Joni Eareckson Tada for an independent movie of the same name.
The nomination was reputedly "controversial" because it’s a religious song for a faith-based film.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Board of Governors explained that there had been inappropriate lobbying by the song composer, who’s a former board governor.
The composer says his mere email advocacy pales next to more typically sophisticated media campaigns for big budget Hollywood film songs.
It’s reportedly the first time the Academy has rescinded a nomination.
Hollywood likes to adopt the pose of being a rebel. But sometimes, let us say, "reactionary" seems a more apt description.
Some controversy is just too much too bear, I suppose. Rebels must be taught lessons.
In any case, for a discussion of a film that upsets Tinseltown stereotypes, my review of "reel rebel" Fireproof may be of interest.

Arnold Ahlert writes at Frontpagemag.com:
Recently, The Daily Beast disgraced itself by providing a platform for communist Bill Ayers to spread unchallenged lies about his background in the Weather Underground terrorist organization, which is presently the subject of an exonerating new film by leftist actor Robert Redford.
The film, The Company You Keep, is not unlike the prior whitewash of communism Redford presented in the 1973 film The Way We Were, co-starring fellow left-winger Barbra Streisand.
Following in Redford’s footsteps, some of the biggest names in Hollywood have just released an equally mendacious portrait of radical Angela Davis in the documentary Free Angela & All Political Prisoners, a work that further popularizes Davis’s fictional persona as a "social justice" advocate and racial equality icon of the Sixties.
What audiences will be robbed of in this historical distortion, however, is a truthful look at Davis’s "political" career -- filled as it is with violent militarism, racial hatred and complicity in murder.
The documentary will also not reveal the destructive work Davis continues today by promoting the release of black criminals back into black communities to further terrorize their populations (90% of the victims of black criminals are black).
