Trump's Childcare Plan Can Backfire Bigtime

By Rick Pearcey • September 14, 2016, 01:47 PM

Newsmax and other media outlets are reporting that Donald Trump has unveiled a childcare plan that will help ensure a "better future for all Americans."

The political key to a "better future for all Americans" is for the federal government to perform its obligations as set forth in the Constitution, which is designed to safeguard the ethos set forth in the mainstream of mainstream U.S. documents -- The Declaration of Independence.

Legislating childcare out of Washington, D.C., is not among the constitutional obligations of the federal government.

To some, such an initiative may seem compassionate, fair, liberating, and so on. But even if well intended, in its strategic, real-world impact, it is none of these things.

In fact, it is like a mom who overly mothers a child. The result is infantilizing, not liberating. Enfeebling, not empowering.

In the norms of life for human freedom and dignity, there really is too much of a good thing.

Good government is a good thing, but there is a point at which good government becomes bad government when it tries to do that which is not within its responsibilities.

Hugs are good. But being hugged to death is not.

Childcare is the exclusive purview of parents and is far too important to be managed out of Washington, D.C. Real love respects boundaries.

Government to Monitor Family "Spirituality"

By Rick Pearcey • June 8, 2015, 06:58 AM

WND reports:

Under a new law in Scotland, parents will be reported to authorities for not giving a child enough "love, hope and spirituality," according to a government health adviser who is helping craft rules for the law, which is scheduled to go into effect next year.

Sounds like Big Brother, Big Mother, and Big Snitch, all rolled into one.

No humane civilization will put up with this.

Krauthammer: Obama Like Leader of "Banana Republic"

By Rick Pearcey • November 20, 2014, 09:12 AM

"Columnist Charles Krauthammer said that President Obama's planned executive order on immigration is comparable to the actions of a leader of a banana republic on Wednesday's 'Special Report' on the Fox News Channel," Breitbart reports

"The only rationale Obama is citing in doing this . . . is not lack of resources, it's not a crisis, it's not something new, as he said, the system is broken, it has been for decades. It is one thing and one thing alone: I waited long enough," Breitbart quotes Krauthammer as saying.

"That's what caudillo says in a banana republic: I waited long enough and the national assembly hasn't acted, so I'm going to issue a decree. That is not how it works in our system," Krauthammer said.

Italian Parents Push Back Against "Gender Deconstruction" in Schools

By Rick Pearcey • April 8, 2014, 11:23 AM

Hilary White reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

This week, a group of parents told the city administration in the small Tuscan town of Pontassieve that they would not go along with the introduction of the homosexualist "gender" ideology in their schools.

The parents addressed the proposed "ECOS -- Deconstructing to Build" program that aims to "help eliminate the stereotypes associated with gender." Parents quoted the Italian Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights that say in the area of public education, the state "must respect the right of parents to ensure such education and teaching is in conformity with their own religious and philosophical convictions." The school, they said, "must not invade the field of education within the family."

The parents said, "The appropriate and necessary fight against bullying and all forms of discrimination cannot be manipulated by anyone or used to spread messages of other kinds, such as the affirmation of gender identity."

"While a project to make 'diversity education' standard throughout Italy’s schools has been successfully blocked in Parliament, the same work is proceeding at the municipal level," White reports. "It was recently blasted by the Archbishop of Turin who called it an attempt to turn local schools into 're-education camps' for the extreme left."

LifeSiteNews also reports that, "at the same time, a set of government guidelines instructs journalists never to portray homosexuals or 'transsexuals' in a negative light. The document, created according to a mandate by the Council of Europe, threatens journalists with unnamed 'professional sanctions' and even possible jail time for failing to comply."

"Duck Dynasty" Fans Plan "Chick-Phil-A" Appreciation Day

By Rick Pearcey • December 28, 2013, 08:21 AM

"Diehard fans of the A&E show 'Duck Dynasty' are planning to show their loyalty by holding a Phil Robertson appreciation day at Chick-fil-A franchises nationwide on Jan. 21," Fox News reports.

"According to the Chick-Phil-A Day Facebook page, Robertson supporters are encouraged to wear 'Duck Commander or camouflage gear' to their local Chick-fil-A to 'stand for free speech' and 'sit for good food'," Fox News states.

"The event already has over 24,000 likes and nearly 60,000 listed attendees since its creation on Dec. 20," Fox reports.

Yesterday, A&E released an announcement stating that the network has decided to "resume filming . . . with the entire Robertson family."

A&E Statement on Phil Robertson, "Duck Dynasty": "Resume Filming . . . With the Entire Roberston Family"

By Rick Pearcey • December 28, 2013, 07:50 AM

The following statement from the Arts and Entertainment Network was published yesterday at The Hollywood Reporter:

As a global media content company, A+E Networks' core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect. We believe it is a privilege for our brands to be invited into people's homes, and we operate with a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to these principles.

That is why we reacted so quickly and strongly to a recent interview with Phil Robertson. While Phil's comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the "coarse language" he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would "never incite or encourage hate." We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article and reiterate that they are not views we hold.

But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family . . . a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.

So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.

We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio.

Female Privilege: How Society Disincentivizes Male Responsibility

By Nancy Pearcey • December 3, 2013, 02:53 PM

Psychologist Helen Smith is author of the book Men on Strike. Its theme is that too many men are simply dropping out of normal adult responsibilities.

In a Salvo article titled "Cashed Out: The War Against Sexual Order Has Young Men in Full Retreat," Terrell Clemmons discusses several "zones" where men are "going on strike":

Higher Education. In addition to the enrollment imbalance, which is approaching a 60/40 ratio of women to men, college has become, in the words of one professor, "a hostile working environment [in which] males increasingly feel emasculated." . . .

Work, including community involvement. With higher female graduation rates and salaries, men today are falling behind their fathers economically and professionally. Consequently, their efforts to prove themselves worthy mates through hard work and higher earnings don't win female attention the way they used to. Discouraged, too many retreat to a man cave. . . .

Marriage. Marriage rates are down, and honest men opting out will tell you why. Smith cites a Rutgers University study of single heterosexual men which turned up the top reasons they hadn't married. They can get sex and the companionship of cohabitation without marriage more easily than in times past, and they don't want to open themselves up to the risk of divorce and financial loss. It really isn't that complicated a decision.

But Smith cautions against any superficial conclusions that attribute all this to male immaturity, laziness, or plain sexual economics. While those things may figure in, the man-child label simply doesn't stick to the men she actually hears from. On the contrary, she says men are "acting rationally in response to the lack of incentives today's society offers them to be responsible fathers, husbands and providers." It isn't an organized, or even a declared strike. It's more of a reluctant retreat. Why should they do otherwise? Chris, a thirty-something single man, captured it: "There is nothing in it for me, no incentive and no reason."

Mark Steyn: Japanese Rent Cats to Cuddle

By Nancy Pearcey • November 14, 2013, 10:08 AM

The Japanese are living out a dystopia like the one described in P.D. James's novel The Children of Men, which portrays a world where everyone is infertile and no children are being born. Mark Steyn writes:

In Lady James's speculative fiction, pets are doted on as child-substitutes, and churches hold christening ceremonies for cats.

In contemporary Japanese reality, Tokyo has some 40 "cat cafés" where lonely solitary citizens can while away an afternoon by renting a feline to touch and pet for a couple of companiable hours.

In Lady James's speculative fiction, all the unneeded toys are burned, except for the dolls, which childless women seize on as the nearest thing to a baby and wheel through the streets.

In contemporary Japanese reality, toy makers, their children's market dwindling, have instead developed dolls for seniors to be the grandchildren they'll never have: You can dress them up, and put them in a baby carriage, and the computer chip in the back has several dozen phrases of the kind a real grandchild might use to enable them to engage in rudimentary social pleasantries.

Mark Steyn describes here how the Japanese are opting out of sex and marriage too.

Intact Families Help the Poor, Stop Cycle of Poverty

By Nancy Pearcey • November 5, 2013, 09:24 AM

Napp Nazworth reports for the Christian Post on findings presented at the American Enterprise Institute:

Children raised by both their mom and their dad are more likely to go to college and to make more money than children raised by unwed and divorced parents, and the impact is greater among the poor. This is just one of the findings presented at the American Enterprise Institute's Tuesday panel discussion, "Left behind: Why trends in family structure and parenting are setting some kids up to fail."

Unwed childbearing is now the new norm for women under 30 in the United States, noted keynote speaker Isabel Sawhill, senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution. There is also a growing class divide, she said, with the low income having more children out-of-wedlock than those with high levels of income.

The high rate of unwed childbearing among the poor and lower middle-class is important because children of divorced and single parents do less well in school, are less likely to go to college, and are more likely to have children as unmarried teens and young adults, thus perpetuating a cycle of poverty.

Here is the entire news report.

Survey: Parents' Time With Kids More Rewarding Than Paid Work

By Nancy Pearcey • November 1, 2013, 03:42 PM

Based on a new Pew Research Center analysis of government time use data, Wendy Wang writes:

Parents find much more meaning in the time they spend with their children than in the time they spend at work. American parents with children under age 18 find 62% of their child-care experiences “very meaningful,” compared with 36% of paid work-related activities."

These findings are based on an analysis of the new Well-being Module from the American Time Use Survey (ATUS).

The Pew survey found that, when it comes to happiness, time with children also beats time at work. Parents on average report that they are “very happy” in 35% of their child-care activities, compared with 19% of their paid work-related activities.

So much for the notion that a professional career is the sole source of true fulfillment.

"Godfather of Hipsterdom": Feminism Making Women Miserable, Children Turning Him From Atheism

By Nancy Pearcey • October 25, 2013, 12:59 PM

Gavin McInnes co-founder of Vice and often described as “The Godfather of Hipsterdom,” says his three children -- ages 7 years, 5 years, and 9 months -- convinced him to affirm the existence of God and become pro-life.

I was an atheist most of my life and now I am a God-fearing Catholic, because of the miracle of life. And I’m pro-life,” he said, noting that he used to be pro-choice and became pro-life with the birth of his first child.

McInnes also lamented media portrayals of fathers as “the idiot of the family.”

“If it gets a laugh, fine, but we all have to check ourselves and go: ‘How about some reverence, for a change?’ We revere single moms and we revere drug dealers like Jay Z -- how about we revere the people who put on food on the table?”

McInnes is taking the most flak, however, for agreeing (in somewhat earthy language) with a study from last year finding that despite 40 years of feminismwomen's happiness had fallen 'both absolutely and relatively to that of men'.”

“I see a lot of women without kids, in their 40s, who are miserable and I see a lot of women after they have children saying, ‘what the f---- was I doing? Why was I doing fashion PR? I was doing seating plans for a fashion show telling what people sit in what chair. Now I’m shaping human life,’” he explained.

“I see the housewife as a far superior vocation to mine, and to most,” McInnes continued. “I mean I make commercials, and funny videos, and T.V. shows or whatever, film projects that people will watch for ten minutes and go ‘heh’ and get on with their day. I essentially . . . make comic books. You flip through it and you’re done. My wife creates life from her vagina and then -- that’s just the beginning -- then she shapes this human life.”

McInnes explained how much more fulfilling his wife’s day -- making memories with their children -- than his, working on a cheese commercial.

“Who is changing the world more?” he asked.

Memo to Conservatives: Accepting Homosex "Marriage" Opens Door to "Unlimited Statism"

By Nancy Pearcey • March 29, 2013, 01:00 PM

Editor's note: While the Supreme Court heard arguments on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California's Prop 8 this week, apologists for homosexual "marriage" ask how such an arrangement poses any harm to society. In fact, very much is at stake, and negatively so, for the individual person and for society at large, as Nancy Pearcey demonstrates below, in remarks published in 2011, prior to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.

The conservative coalition has always been unstable. And homosexuality may be the issue on which it shatters.

Several groups have announced that they will boycott next month’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) because of its decision to invite the pro-homosexual activist group GOProud to participate.

Dissenting groups include the Family Research Council, Concerned Women of America, The American Principles Project, American Values, the Center for Military Readiness, Liberty Counsel, and the National Organization for Marriage.

Not all conservatives support the boycott. At Hot Air, Ed Morrissey opines that by pulling out, social conservatives create the perception "that they don’t even want to debate their position on homosexuality."

At Commentary, Peter Wehner says that these groups could give the impression "that they do not have the arguments needed to win on the merits."

Unfortunately, too many Americans already have that impression -- especially younger voters. A 2009 Pew study found that 58 percent of young adults 18 to 29 years old support same-sex "marriage," compared to 39 percent of the population nationwide.

By voting with their feet, however, social conservatives are not giving up, they are taking a public stand -- which creates a forum to make their case more effectively. They should take this opportunity to argue that the practice of homosexuality has a negative impact not just on the family but also on individuals -- that it expresses a profound disrespect for a person’s biological identity.

Biologically, physiologically, males and females are clearly counterparts to one another. The male sexual and reproductive anatomy is obviously designed for a relationship with a female, and vice versa.

Homosexual practice thus requires individuals to contradict their own biology. It disconnects a person’s sexuality from his or her biological identity as male or female -- which exerts a self-alienating and fragmenting effect on the human personality.

And the logic of alienation will not stop there. Already the acceptance of same-sex relationships is metastasizing into a postmodern notion of sexuality as fluid and changing over time.

For example, an article in the Utne Reader highlights individuals who came out of the closet as homosexual, but were later attracted to heterosexual relationships again. The article quotes psychotherapist Bret Johnson explaining that people today "don’t want to fit into any boxes -- not gay, straight, lesbian, or bisexual ones." Instead "they want to be free to change their minds."

What we’re seeing, Johnson concludes, is "a challenge to the old, modernist way of thinking 'This is who I am, period' and a movement toward a postmodern version, 'This is who I am right now.'"

In other words, yesterday I was straight, today I may be homosexual, and tomorrow I could be bisexual. One’s psychosexual identity is said to be in constant flux.

In the past, homosexuals employed the defense that they were born that way. But now they are beginning to embrace the postmodern idea that you can be anything you want to be along a sexual continuum.

This contradicts conservatism at its philosophical core. Conservatism bases human rights on the recognition that there are certain non-negotiable givens in human nature, prior to the state, which the state is obligated to respect.

As political scientist Philippe Beneton explains, in conservatism, equality "is grounded in the recognition of what is human." By contrast, in liberalism, equality "is founded on the claim that nothing is specifically human" -- that human nature itself is a social construction, something we make up as we go along, including our psychosexual identity.

In that case, however, there is nothing in the individual that is given, which the state is therefore obligated to respect. Liberalism undermines the basis for inalienable human rights.

The CPAC walkout is a chance to highlight what is at stake. Jesse Hathaway at NewsReal Blog defends CPAC, saying, "I’m a bit fuzzy on why it matters what a person does in the privacy of his or her bedroom, as long as it doesn’t affect me."

But it does affect him -- and everyone else. Every social practice is the expression of fundamental assumptions about what it means to be human. When a society accepts and approves the practice, it implicitly commits itself to the worldview that supports it -- all the more so if the practice is enshrined in law.

If America accepts practices such as same-sex "marriage," in the process it will absorb the accompanying worldview -- the redefinition of human personhood as a purely social construction -- which opens the door to unlimited statism, because there is no human nature that an oppressive state could possibly offend.

Those who resist will be compelled by the state to go along, or face penalties for "discrimination."

Margaret Thatcher used to say, "First you win the argument, then you win the vote." Instead of caving on this issue, the leaders of CPAC should be vigorously advancing the core arguments of conservatism. Not just to win the vote but to preserve the foundation of the American republic.

Minnesota Lawmakers: Let 6 Adults Claim "Biological Parentage of the Same Child"

By Nancy Pearcey • March 27, 2013, 01:10 PM

Ryan MacPherson writes at the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

As the cliché would have it, "You can’t legislate morality." But some Minnesota lawmakers think they can legislate biology instead.

The interaction of two bills introduced in the Legislature this session defies the facts of Biology 101.

A "biological parent," as crafted in SF370 and SF925, would no longer include only the birth mother and the man who got her pregnant, but potentially six persons. (emphasis added)

The Legislature’s proposed allowance for up to six adults to claim biological parentage of the same child takes the marriage debate to a new level.

No longer will people be asking whether every child has the right to a mom and a dad -- or whether same-sex couples can raise children just as well as opposite-sex couples.

Now a child can have up to six persons whom the law will recognize as "presumptive biological parents."

The Feminist Housewife: So Retro, It's Chic

By Nancy Pearcey • March 20, 2013, 03:38 PM

Lisa Miller writes at New York Magazine:

This is not the retreat from high-pressure workplaces of a previous generation but rather a more active awakening to the virtues of the way things used to be.

Patricia Ireland, who lives on the Upper West Side, left her job as a wealth adviser in 2010 after her third child was born. Now, even though her husband, also in finance, has seen his income drop since the recession, she has no plans to go back to work.

She feels it’s a privilege to manage her children’s lives -- “not just what they do, but what they believe, how they talk to other children, what kind of story we read together. That’s all dictated by me. Not by my nanny or my babysitter.”

Her husband’s part of the arrangement is to go to work and deposit his paycheck in the joint account. “I’m really grateful that my husband and I have fallen into traditional gender roles without conflict,” says Ireland. “I’m not bitter that I’m the one home and he goes to work. And he’s very happy that he goes to work”. . . .

Home, to these women, is more than a place to watch TV at the end of the day and motherhood more than a partial identity. It is a demanding, full-time endeavor, requiring all of their creativity, energy, and ingenuity.

Kelly Makino set up a giant mothers’ group in northern Jersey, using her M.S.W. to help other parents pool time and resources. (Such “side projects,” she says, have the added benefit of “keeping us sane.”)

Homeschooling, once the province of Christian conservatives, is now increasingly chosen by lefty families; in New York City, the number of children being taught in their apartments rose by nearly 10 percent over the past year. . . .

If you want a context for understanding why this is happening, please see "How Women Started the Culture War," which is chapter 12 of my book Total Truth.

Blaze: "Famed Christian Pastor" Issues "Shocking" Homosex "Marriage" Endorsement

By Rick Pearcey • March 19, 2013, 09:48 AM

Billy Hallowell reports at The Blaze:

Controversial faith leader Rob Bell spoke over the weekend at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, Calif., where the former pastor openly endorsed gay marriage. When asked about the controversial issue by The Very Rev. Dr. Jane Shaw, who was moderating the event, he offered up a clear and concise response -- one that will serve as a surprise to many conservative evangelicals.

"Yes, I am for marriage. I am for fidelity. I am for love," he said, going on to get more specific. "Whether it’s a man and a woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man -- I think the ship has sailed and I think the church needs to just -- this is the world we’re living in and we need to affirm people wherever they are."

Bell's relativistic stance represents not just an extremist departure from a Christian mind, but also an extremist departure from a free mind, as he endorses the organized political hatreds of the moment.

"The endgame" of so-called marriage equality "is not to make marriage equally available to all but to make it equally unavailable to all," I write in my latest column, "The Revolt of Intelligence Against 'Marriage Equality'," published at American Thinker and The Pearcey Report

Instead of capitulation to ideological passions, which is not compassionate, what is needed is an awareness that the trajectory of "marriage equality" is "'marriage elasticity,' with the ultimate goal of 'marriage extinction'."

The denial of truth spoken in love is inhumane, uncivil, and profoundly un-Christian.

Obama DOJ: Children Do Not Need -- and Have No Right to -- Mothers

By Rick Pearcey • March 3, 2013, 08:07 PM

Terence P. Jeffrey reports at CNSNews.com:

The Obama Justice Department is arguing in the United States Supreme Court that children do not need mothers.

The Justice Department’s argument on the superfluity of motherhood is presented in a brief the Obama administration filed in the case of Hollingsworth v. Perry, which challenges the constitutionality of Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative that amended California’s Constitution to say that marriage involves only one man and one woman.

To support its argument, the Obama administration cites "a 'policy statement' by the American Psychological Association. This statement claims that some studies indicate same-sex parents might be 'superior' to mother-and-father families, but then concedes there is little actual data on the results of raising children in two-father households," reports CNSNews.

Comment: Once again, the extremism of Mr. Obama and his radical regime expresses itself. In this case he discriminates against the Creator and the the Creator's norms for the healthy human family.

This discrimination will be baited and sold as "fairness" and "equality," but it is utterly unfair and an equality of cruelty. For it expresses hatred against what is best for children who are created to survive and thrive in real marriages and not in counterfeit "families" of two moms or three dads, depending upon the latest "scientific" social construct created on demand in the basement of the White House.

Rather than subject children to state-imposed homosexualist intolerance against the human family -- created to express the diversity of male and female within the liberating unity of married life -- these know-nothing radicals would deny that children are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights" and that "among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

Needless to say, nothing in the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution legitimizes or authorizes Mr. Obama and his authoritarian disciples to seek to impose, by judicial fiat, their private value systems and belief constructs upon real children who need real families.

This kind of radicalism against the mainstream of the rules of freedom and the human community as centered on the Creator and not the state -- nor on the feelings of the Democrat Party -- ought to be rejected out of hand and exposed for extremism for which it stands. Children need moms, not tyrants. Make love, not hate.

Yahoo!'s Regressive Work-From-Home Ban Is Bad News for Families

By Nancy Pearcey • February 25, 2013, 08:30 AM

Lisa Belkin writes at HuffPost:

What others see as the future of the workplace, and what parents see as a most important tool for juggling home and work, Marissa Mayer apparently sees as disposable.

The CEO of Yahoo!, who made news when she took the position last summer while five months pregnant, announced through the company's human resources arm yesterday that employees will no longer be permitted to work remotely.

This is bad news for family. Read Total Truth chapter 12 on how the family was affected by the industrial revolution, which first removed work from the home, and how the family is much healthier when work can be reintegrated into life.

Reports: Estimated 1 Million-Plus March in Paris Against Homosex "Marriage" Plans

By Rick Pearcey • January 15, 2013, 09:43 AM

LifeSiteNews.com reports from Paris:

A million. And more. The turnout for this Sunday’s demonstration against French President François Hollande’s move to legalize same-sex “marriage” reached gigantic and even un-hoped for proportions. . . .

At half past two, the minister for Social affairs, Marisol Touraine, announced that the turnout was far less than the organizers had hoped. At 5 p.m. official figures were given out by the police: 340,000 participants. That was half their real count: unofficial sources from police headquarters say the “Préfecture” had actually counted 700,000, but had received orders to halve the figure. . . .

The demonstrators kept streaming towards the gigantic Champ de Mars which can hold some 800,000 people, and which was filled to overflowing with a rotating crowd of demonstrators.

"By 11 p.m. a number of officials at the Préfecture rebelled, according to unofficial sources, and reported estimates of as many as 1.2 to 1.4 million," LifeSiteNews reports.

Several Hundred Thousand Due in Paris to Protest Counterfeit Homosex "Marriage"

By Rick Pearcey • January 12, 2013, 11:40 PM

Tom Heneghan reports for Reuters:

Strongly backed by the Catholic hierarchy, lay activists have mobilized a hybrid coalition of church-going families, political conservatives, Muslims, evangelicals and even homosexuals opposed to gay marriage for the show of force.

Huge Outcry Against Counterfeit "Gay Marriage" in UK

By Rick Pearcey • January 7, 2013, 12:47 PM

"With the coalition government about to publish their bill to legalise gay marriage in England and Wales there has been a huge increase in opposition to the measure over the last two months," Dr. Peter Saunders writes at Christian Medical Comment.

"Over 624,000 people have now signed the Coalition for Marriage (C4M) petition against the redefinition of marriage, which simply reads as follows:

I support the legal definition of marriage which is the voluntary union for life of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others. I oppose any attempt to redefine it.

By contrast, the "petition has overwhelmed that of the 'Campaign for equal Marriage' (C4EM) which has attracted only 64,000 signatures, just over 10% of C4M’s total," Saunders writes.

"This underlines the growing suspicion that the push to legalise gay marriage is the concern of a small liberal elite which does not speak for the majority."

Make Love, Not Hate: Family Research Council Drops UPS

By Rick Pearcey • December 13, 2012, 10:51 AM

John Jalsevac reports at LifeSiteNews:

Mail trucks with United Parcel Services (UPS) will be carrying a lighter load this Christmas season after one of the top conservative organizations in the country announced they are dropping the mail carrier.

Family Research Council (FRC) expressed frustration after UPS decided to cease funding Boy Scouts because of the Scouts’ policy of not accepting openly homosexual Scout leaders or members.

In November, FRC sent a letter to UPS urging them to reconsider and reverse their new policy.

However, FRC President Tony Perkins now says that he has spoken personally with UPS executives, “but they showed no willingness to back down on bullying non-profits into abandoning their values.”

If UPS chooses to side with intolerant anti-family radicals who discriminate against the Boy Scouts and against the Creator and His emancipatory norms for marriage, family life, and human sexuality, well, bless UPS's extremist corporate heart.

But neither FRC nor any free-thinking individual or group needs to help fund that kind of unethical, hateful corporate lack of social responsibility.

Loving thy neighbor includes the honest stewardship of one's financial resources.

UPS should stick to delivering parcels. And practice positive corporate responsibility, not its anti-family opposite.

And when UPS starts pushing extremism or undermining sanity, it's time for free-thinkers who respect the Creator and the blessings of family and liberty to push back.

Love always means taking a stand against hate.

Well done, Family Research Council.

FYI, Free-Thinkers: 1st Counterfeit "Marriage" at West Point Chapel

By Rick Pearcey • December 1, 2012, 06:38 PM

Madeleine Morgenstern reports at The Blaze

The first same-sex wedding ceremony will be held Saturday at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point’s Cadet Chapel, USA Today reported.

Two women, Brenda Sue Fulton and Penelope Dara Gnesin, will exchange vows one year after the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy banning gays from serving openly in the military came to an end.

Here's what's really happening: In the name of a pseudo-intellectual theory of liberation, the policy called "don't ask, don't tell" has been replaced by a form of oppression and discrimination that demands "don't question, don't speak."

If you are a free-thinker, if you are willing to think outside of the closed-down, closed-in homosexualist box, consider:

Wrapped in the typical liberalist marketing language selling the "sizzle" of "freedom," "equality," and "love" . . . [is in fact] a product loaded with hate, discrimination, and intolerance.

That would be hatred for the rules of freedom (rooted in the Creator [see the Declaration of Independence] who gives both unalienable rights and liberating norms for married love and human sexuality).

That would be discrimination against the wonder of the male-female diversity, oppressing vive la différence with a steamroller of mono-dimensional sameness and flatness (Oh, yeah, "equality").

And that would be intolerance against people who think for themselves and prefer real marriage, real family, and real diversity to pseudo-intellectual counterfeits all gussied up for the county fair in liberaland hickville (imposed by government extremists from Washington).

People who say they are "conservative" should not allow themselves to be duped by the superficial sizzle of "gay" marketing.

Arguing there is a "conservative case for 'gay' marriage" is as sound as arguing there is a conservative case for counterfeit money. You can make it, but only fools bank on it.

As for the GOP, that party needs to realize that human beings do not live by economics alone.

It needs to start thinking, quit reacting, and refrain from allowing marriage-counterfeiters to impose their extremist agenda upon a free people that prefers reality and wholeness over escapism and reactionary pet theories.

Far better, GOP, is to affirm social policy consistent with rules of freedom grounded in reality, instead of submitting to liberty-denying compromises with inflexible counterfeiters who would eat your lunch, not to mention your country. For

. . . a "house-divided cannot stand. The choice is yours -- the rules of freedom vs. the rules for radicals. Choose freedom and you will live. Choose the extreme radicalism . . . and you will not live. Remain a house-divided and you will collapse."

The antithesis is real. Say yes to reality. And throw the well-baited counterfeits of hate, discrimination, and intolerance onto the ash heap of history.

What is true of military struggle is true in society at large: The most deadly assaults always begin from the inside.

Don't Worry, Ladies, It Was a Transgender Spy Cam

By Rick Pearcey • November 25, 2012, 05:53 PM

CBS 13 in Sacramento reports:

Women were shocked to learn that they were being secretly videotaped while using the restroom at a Vallejo Long John Silvers restaurant.

Police say a teenage employee at the fast food restaurant was capturing their every move.

“That’s disgusting,” said one woman. “It’s a complete violation.”

Female residents were creeped out learning what one customer allegedly found inside the Long John Silvers.

“In Long John Silvers? I go over there all the time. I used to use the restroom too,” said another woman.

Meanwhile, enlightened education accepts the unfounded notion that there is no real difference between the sexes and that gender, orientation, marriage, and family are realy just artificial constructs created by humans. Which can therefore be decreated by humans.

In addition, in a society where abortion is not rare and is always unsafe (ask the babies), those who live outside of the womb, especially those who think they are empowered by the state to invade the privacy of the fetus, up to the point of killing preborn humans, really have no standing upon which to protest when their post-utero privacy is invaded.

In public bathrooms, for example.

You see, the distinction between public and private is just a social construct, as well, it can be argued. And it is probably rooted in that non-evolved One Percenter attachment to private property that Marx warned us about and Obama promises to free us from, so centralized government power can ensure the fair redistribution of life, liberty, and happiness.

In fact, liberalism affirms women and privacy, but only as "sizzle." In substance, liberalism destroys both diversity and privacy.

In a closed-down scheme of merely naturalistic "equality," eventually eveything becomes one -- no Creator, no heaven or hell, no male or female, no in or out, no public or private, but all is one, all is unity, all is tolerated.

But when distinctions disappear, the distinction between safe spaces (women protected in restrooms, for example) as opposed to unsafe spaces (women not protected in restrooms, for example) disappears as well.

It's not supposed to exist, but welcome to Hell anyway.

Action: Coalition of Black Pastors Targeting Counterfeit Homosex "Marriage"

By Rick Pearcey • November 22, 2012, 10:56 AM

Rev. William Owens, who heads CAAP (Coalition of African American Pastors), is not taking pro-homosexualist Obama's attack on marriage sitting down.

"We have an agenda next year where we're going to educate people as to what they're doing and the damage that they are causing to their families and the future of this country," Owens told OneNewsNow.

"The education process, according to Owens, needs to originate from the pulpit, small groups, parents, young people and students -- all working toward rebuilding a strong biblical foundation for the country," reports OneNewsNow.

Former RNC Chairman Makes Case for Counterfeit Homosex "Marriage"

By Rick Pearcey • November 21, 2012, 10:28 AM

Eddie Scarry writes at The Blaze:

Ken Mehlman, former RNC chairman and 2004 campaign manager for George W. Bush, makes the conservative case for gay marriage in today’s Wall Street Journal.

"Some misperceive the issue of marriage equality as exclusively progressive," Mehlman writes. "Yet what could be more conservative than support for more freedom and less government? And what freedom is more basic than the right to marry the person you love? Smaller, less intrusive government surely includes an individual deciding whom to marry. Allowing civil marriage for same-sex couples will cultivate community stability, encourage fidelity and commitment, and foster family values. . . ."

Utter nonsense, of course. But wrapped in the typical liberalist marketing language selling the "sizzle" of "freedom," "equality," and "love," while in fact camouflaging a product loaded with hate, discrimination, and intolerance.

That would be hatred for the rules of freedom (rooted in the Creator who gives both unalienable rights and liberating norms for married love and human sexuality).

Arguing there is a "conservative case for 'gay' marriage" is as sound as arguing there is a conservative case for counterfeit money. You can make it, but only fools bank on it.

Finally, a word to the GOP: A house-divided cannot stand. The choice is yours -- the rules of freedom vs. the rules for radicals. Choose freedom and you will live. Choose the extreme radicalism of Mehlman and company and you will not live. Remain a house-divided and you will collapse.

The antithesis is real. Say yes to reality. And throw the well-baited counterfeits of hate, discrimination, and intolerance onto the ash heap of history.

French Protests: Marriage = One Man + One Woman

By Rick Pearcey • November 20, 2012, 08:12 AM

Thaddeus Balinski reports at LifeSiteNews:

Hundreds of thousands of traditional marriage supporters demonstrated against same-sex “marriage” in France over the weekend.

On Saturday, a nationwide rally drew an estimated 200,000 protesters in Paris according to organizers, with tens of thousands more attending rallies throughout the country.

Almost 30,000 traditional marriage supporters demonstrated in the city of Lyon, according to a Reuters report. Police there reported that 40 counter-protesters were arrested after they attempted to disrupt the rally.

Note: The issue here is perhaps better framed not as "traditional marriage" vesus "gay marriage" but as real marriage -- marriage per se -- versus its homosexualist counterfeit, an artificial social construct that extremists seek to impose.

Or you can put it like this:

Pro-homosexualist extremists desperately want people to think of their radicalism as a civil rights issue -- but the kitty kat is let out of the bag once one realizes that acceptance of the "gay" agenda requires the rejection of the basis for any kind of humane and civil society.

You can find that basis expressed the Declaration of Independence, which roots unalienable human rights in the Creator, and not in the state, activist groups, nature "red in tooth and claw," a politician's scary know-it-all smile, or last week's "gender" truth at "Dude, We Are Totally With It" University.

We commend those companies that respect marriage and think with their brains instead of their pseudo-intellectual "transgender parts."

We brazenly commend a politics and polity that courageously affirms the truly liberating family norms endowed upon humanity by "the laws of nature and of nature's God."

We wantonly stand against extremist homosexualist hatreds that discriminate against the institution of marriage, that disrespect the male-female diversity of marriage, and despise the Creator's transcultural norms for human sexuality and married community.

"Go ahead, sweeten this hatred by calling it 'equality,' if it makes you feel better," I have written elsewhere. "But it's as real as a three-dollar bill. And, if truth be told, it's cruel and unloving to try to impose this brummagem upon society."

Sex Therapists Want to Legalize "Virtual" Child Porn

By Rick Pearcey • November 19, 2012, 03:50 PM

Ian Sparks reports at the UK Daily Mail:

Two sex therapists have sparked outrage in the Netherlands by calling for "virtual" child porn to be legalized to relieve the urges of paedophiles.

Amsterdam hospital sexologists Rik van Lunsen and Erik van Beek claim allowing perverts to view drawings or computer-generated images of children would "regulate their desires."

The sexual revolution is built on the concept that human beings are merely animals (as opposed to human beings endowed by the Creator with "certain unalienable rights"), who therefore respond as such in a whole range of circumstances, including sexual circumstances.

Throw on top of this ill-formed worldview the academic socially contrived construct of "sexual orientation" and you have a rationale for treating child porn and adult-child sex and just another kind of orientation ("God," nature or society "made me this way!") that shalt not be judged, because, after all, we're all merely animals in the final analysis.

The so-called sexual revolution is a regressive reactionary devolution too small in its worldview for the dignity and freedom of actual human beings created in the image of God.

Yes, San Franciso, there is a difference between diversity and perversity. The pursuit of happiness has nothing to do with the sexual pursuit of your neighbor's children. A humane and civil society knows the difference.

President's Bully in Chief: Obama Is Telling Kids, F--- Your Parents

By Rick Pearcey • November 2, 2012, 10:00 PM

Drew Zhan reports at WND:

A newly compiled video exposes the chief “anti-bullying” activist endorsed by the Obama administration spewing an obscenity-laced, startling message to “gay” kids in America.

The White House website, under its “Civil Rights” section, iincludes links and videos recorded by Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and others, supporting the mission of “gay” activist Dan Savage's It Gets Better Project, an effort to help homosexual teens survive bullying during their teenage years.

"But a recent video produced by the Faith Family Freedom Fund reveals Savage has touted the White House’s support as proof the president is backing his shocking message," reports WND.

And what does backing that message mean? This:

“That meant,” Savage says of Obama’s participation in his It Gets Better Project, “the president of the United States was telling queer kids, ‘There’s something wrong with your parents, there’s something wrong with your preachers, there’s something wrong with your teachers, and f--- those people!’”

New Pro-Marriage TV Ads Feature Victims of Bullying by Homosex Activists

By Rick Pearcey • November 2, 2012, 07:13 PM

Matthew Cullinan Hoffman reports at LifeSiteNews:

Two new television ads presented to voters by pro-marriage organizations are featuring victims of bullying by homosexual activists and their allies, whose habitual tactics of slander and intimidation were not widely reported by the mainstream media.

One video sponsored by the Family Research Council and aired in opposition to homosexual “marriage” in Maryland, shows [watch ad here14-year-old Sarah Crank and her mother describing the vicious attacks against Sarah by homosexuals following the girl’s testimony in favor of traditional marriage in the Maryland state legislature in January. . . .

A second video [watch here] aired by the National Organization for Marriage and the Marriage Anti-Defamation Alliance features an interview with firefighter Sarah Rowe, who defied her pro-gay union to publicly express her support for a traditional marriage amendment in Minnesota.

"Gay" GOP Volunteer Admits: I Faked Bias Attack Against Myself

By Rick Pearcey • October 30, 2012, 10:01 AM

The Daily Caller reports:

Kyle Wood, an openly gay Republican campaign worker in Wisconsin, admitted on Monday that he faked a bias attack against himself.

Last Thursday, The Daily Caller reported Wood’s allegation that he was the victim of vandalism and assault because he was a gay man working for straight Republican Chad Lee in his congressional race against gay Democrat Mark Pocan.

"Cases of false victims reporting hate crimes against themselves are not as unusual as they may sound," the DC reports. "Last week, police concluded that an alleged attack by the Ku Klux Klan on Sharmeka Moffitt, an African-American woman, was faked."

As examples of faked "hate crimes," The Daily Caller notes the cases of Madonna Constantine (professor at Columbia University Teachers College), Ashley Todd (a John McCain volunteer), and the infamous Tawana Brawley (hyped by Rev. Al Sharpton).

Nordstrom Decides to Stomp on Marriage

By Rick Pearcey • October 13, 2012, 10:04 AM

"Fashion, footwear and retail giant Nordstrom, with annual retail sales reportedly exceeding $10 billion, has joined the ranks of businesses and corporations publicly announcing their advocacy for same-sex marriage," reports Drew Zahn at WND.

But this raises the question: Nordstrum does not accept counterfeit dollars, so why does it accept counterfeit marriage?

Pro-homosexualist extremists desperately want people to think of their radicalism as a civil rights issue -- but the kitty kat is let out of the bag once one realizes that acceptance of the "gay" agenda requires the rejection of the basis for any kind of humane and civil society.

You can find that basis expressed the Declaration of Independence, which roots unalienable human rights in the Creator, and not in the state, activist groups, nature "red in tooth and claw," a politician's scary know-it-all smile, or last week's "gender" truth at "Dude, We Are Totally With It" University.

Nordstrum needs to wise up. The homosexualist shoe does not fit the human form. Keep your unnecessary but violative hatreds off of human society.

Wake up, Nordstrum. Nice companies don't attack families. Nice companies don't hate marriage. And nice companies don't try to use "civil rights" to dump counterfeit social slop onto their customers.

Chick-Fil-A: "No Such Concessions" to Homosex Extremism

By Rick Pearcey • September 25, 2012, 10:18 AM

After a Chicago alderman claimed last week that Chick-fil-A had agreed not to fund pro-family organizations, the fast food chain’s president Dan Cathy has set the record straight.

“Chick-fil-A made no such concessions, and we remain true to who we are and who we have been,” he said in a statement posted on Mike Huckabee’s website on Friday.

Fowl Claim About Chick-Fil-A?

By Rick Pearcey • September 20, 2012, 10:08 AM

Aaron Goldstein writes at American Spectator:

An Illinois LGBT group is claiming that Chik-fil-A will cease giving money to groups which support traditional marriage and oppose same sex marriage. . . .

Something seems fowl about this whole thing. If TCRA's ["The Civil Rights Agenda"] claims are true then I would like to hear it from Dan Cathy himself. TCRA did not release the text of the letter sent by WinShape nor did it indicate who signed the letter. So something doesn't quite smell right to me.

Yesterday I wrote:

We look forward to direct statements from Chick-Fil-A regarding today's report in the LATimes, statements that confirm or deny its core assertions. Meanwhile, one can be thankful that the aggression of extremist forces unleashed in America today has placed the options in stark contrast.

A particular business can be salt and light in a broken world. Or it can be part of the problem. Let's work and pray that the light keeps shining at Chick-Fil-A.

Male Homosexual "Partners" Face Child Porn Charges

By Rick Pearcey • September 15, 2012, 10:07 AM

The Houston Chronicle reports:

Two Jersey Village men face felony child pornography charges after investigators raided their apartment and found illicit photos and videos of children as young as 5 engaged in sex, Harris County prosecutors said.

Christopher Duncan, 38, and his live-in partner, William Burklund, 20, are each charged with possession of child pornography, court records show. A judge set $20,000 bail for each.

"The City of Jersey Village offers its residents a safe, caring small town atmosphere in the heart of the Houston Metropolitan area,"says the Jersey Village website.

Challenging this mission statement is child pornography, which is an inhumane phenomenon and rightly policed. But also challenging this mission statement, and even more destructive strategically, is a homosexualist philosophy that would seek to normalize child pornography.

That philosophy preaches "'love' without limits." This slogan is a sermon in a nutshell, but it is bad faith and intellectually empty.

It is an angry preaching that not only lacks an adequate basis for defining love (and distinguishing it from mere lust) but the embrace of this view requires a) the rejection of the Creator's liberating norms for marriage and human sexuality and b) the acceptance of a private relativistic concept of "values" based on impersonal nature, "orientation," or just raw power. And it places children at the mercy of "loving" "adult" adults.

Today, the consumption of child pornography is a crime, as it should be.

Tomorrow, however, if homosexualist finger-wagging from the White House, Hollywood, the "news" media, and other secularized power establishments (not to be confused with the American mainstream) are successful in imposing their extremist philosophy upon Americans, no child or community will be safe.

Philosophies have consequences. Ideas that are true and humane can elevate a set of colonies to exceptional greatness. Ideas that are false and inhumane can tear down a town, city, state, or country. This can happen even if those ideas are marketed as "liberation."

The immoral criminal jailed today may be hailed as the pioneer tomorrow. Or Wisdom can triumph in the streets.

3 Parents for California Children?

By Rick Pearcey • September 11, 2012, 05:41 PM

Jennifer Roback Morse writes at Public Discourse:

If California State Senator Mark Leno has his way, children in California will be able to have three legal parents. Before we dismiss SB 1476 as another example of California Weird, we had best look into it more closely. After all, the bill has passed both houses of the California Assembly and is awaiting Governor Brown’s signature or veto.

I believe this development was inevitable, more inevitable in fact than the much-vaunted inevitability of gay marriage. Once we started trying to normalize parenting by same-sex couples and redefine marriage to remove the dual-gender requirement, we had to end up with triple-parenting.

A deeper look at the whole picture surrounding SB 1476 reveals that not only should the three-parent law fail, same-sex “marriage” should fail as well. As we will see, embedded in this bill is an appalling power-grab by the state, and a grotesque misrepresentation of the facts by the bill’s authors.

"Triple-parenting and genderless marriage are destructive policies," Morse concludes. "They must be stopped. SB 1476 has passed both houses of the California Assembly. Governor [Jerry] Brown has the power to veto or to sign this ill-conceived law. He must decide, one way or the other, by September 30. Let us hope he does the right thing."
