Albert Camus vs. Scarlett Johansson: Abortion Is "a Human Rights Issue"

By Rick Pearcey • October 18, 2016, 02:19 PM

"In a speech at Variety’s 2016 Power of Women L.A. luncheon last week, actress Scarlett Johansson said abortion is no longer 'a woman’s rights issue' but 'a human rights issue'," Melanie Hunter reports at CNSNews.com.

"A woman's right to choose what to do with her body shouldn't be just a woman's right. It's the year 2016, and this is a human rights issue," the actress said.

I would suggest this is an odd "human right." For as Ms. Johansson expresses it, it is a human right that does not apply to all human beings.

Excluded in this human right are many individuals of both sexes -- in fact, every single human being who happens to be living in his or her mother's womb. That seems a bit non-inclusive.

Imagine: A human right that does not apply to all humans.

But there is more at work here than non-inclusion. For this is a blood-stained exclusion. It is a "human right" that tries to legitimize the tearing of limbs and heads from human beings -- so long as their geography places them inside their mother instead of outside.

For me, I prefer the stance of atheist Albert Camus, who in Resistance, Rebellion, and Death said he would "continue to struggle against this universe in which children suffer and die."

Camus also said, "We are faced with evil. . . . Perhaps we cannot prevent this world from being a world in which children are tortured. But we can reduce the number of tortured children."

Unfortunately the executioners are multiplying. No worries, though, for everyone is safe -- except for human beings condemned to a temporary and perhaps final existence in a mother's womb.

One wonders if humane thoughts such as these enter the professionally rebellious minds of the Scarlett Johansson and other members of the Hollywood One Percent. Or is questioning the abortion status quo just a little too risky?

So, yes. Very sadly for this world and the children in it -- for preborn children and for post-utero children -- the executioners are multiplying and so are the torturers.

They march under the banner "Abortion Macht Frei." "Abortion Makes You Free" lets humans live while humanity dies.

We can thank the likes of Planned Parenthood for this, as well as Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Hollywood elites who drink doctrines that legalize the torture and execution of children.

And you wonder why grown-ups, who are perhaps not quite as innocent as children yet in the womb, conclude it's a good idea to be able to defend yourself and your family from the executioners and torturers as they rise to government power. As their ugly philosophy elicits smiles on glamorous faces.

First the womb, then the world. What happens in the womb doesn't stay in the womb.

Intelligence and humanness revolt.

100,000 Chileans Protest Pending Abortion Law -- Demand "Christian" Democrats Return to Roots

By Rick Pearcey • September 5, 2016, 03:30 PM

Dan Zeidler reports from Santiago for LifeSiteNews:

In a massive rejection of the government's insistence on pushing through legislation to open the country to "legal abortion," Chileans from all walks of life, social status and religions amassed this past Saturday in downtown Santiago for a "Celebrate Life" rally.

Evangelical Christians along with Catholics and others denounced the legislative push by President Michele Bachelet and other elected officials which calls for legalizing abortion of unborn children conceived in rape, or who are determined to have a medical condition incompatible with life, or where there is danger to the mother's life.

"Many of those present at the rally are particularly concerned with members of the Christian Democratic Party who are supporting the pro-abortion legislation," Zeidler reports.

"It is a mockery that members of a party that calls itself Christian dare to legalize the killing of the innocent," said Carmen Croxatto of Chile's Pro-Life Pro-Family Network, according to LifeSiteNews.

"Pro-life leaders promise to make this the key determinant in the upcoming elections, declaring that any candidate or party who supports this legislation will not get their vote," Zeidler reports.

"We do not want to follow the other countries of the world which have abandoned the protection of the weakest members of the human family, starting first with so-called 'only limited abortion' and ending up with even more horrific consequences and all the damage that comes in the wake of abortion to society in general," Elizabeth Bunster of Proyetco Esperanza said, according to LifeSiteNews.

Australian Mom Charged for Pro-life Outreach Outside Abortion Center

By Rick Pearcey • September 1, 2016, 12:33 PM

Steve Weatherbe reports from Melbourne for LifeSiteNews.com:

A Catholic theology student and mother of 13 is the first person charged under the State of Victoria's new bubble zone law for distributing pro-life material to clients at a downtown abortion clinic.

Kathleen Clubb, 50, wrote on the website devoted to raising funds for her legal defense that she planned to challenge the law, which was passed last year and took effect in May. "I intend to pursue this case to the High Court to prove that the 'Safe Access Zone' amendment is unconstitutional because it burdens the constitutional freedom of political communication."

Defeating Planned Parenthood: Texas Dismisses Felony Charges Against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt

By Rick Pearcey • July 26, 2016, 02:37 PM

Ben Johnson reports at LifeSiteNews:

All charges have been dismissed against Center for Medical Progress [CMP] investigators David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, multiple sources have confirmed to LifeSiteNews.

Prosecutors with the Harris County District Attorney's office dropped the charges before the pair could pursue their legal motion to quash the charges at a hearing at 9 a.m. Central time, according to the Houston Chronicle.

This morning, CMP project lead David Daleiden called the dismissal of the charges "a resounding vindication of the First Amendment rights of all citizen journalists, and also a clear warning to any of Planned Parenthood's political cronies who would attack whistleblowers to protect Planned Parenthood from scrutiny."

High Court Executioners Protect "Right to Choose" . . . to Murder Your Child

By Rick Pearcey • June 29, 2016, 01:52 PM

William J. Olson and Herbert W. Titus at American Thinker discuss how "Monday's decision in Whole Woman's Health v. Texas demonstrates that the U.S. Supreme Court, as currently constituted, is committed to uphold the right to abortion, no matter what."

The U.S. is of course rooted in the verifiable and liberating truth that "all men are created equal" and are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights" and "that among these are Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness."

Extremists against this enlightened American mainstream reject the rules of human freedom and dignity root and branch. Thus begins a dark and inhumane descent into intellectual and moral suicide, encouraged along the way by a kneejerk fanaticism that deprogresses people at literally breakneck speed.

You can hear the snip and snap in the aborcentration camps. St. Gosnell of the House of Horrors blesses the instruments of pain and the will to power. O Satan, won't you buy me a Lamborghini.

To help make it throught the night, and to calm sheep in the presence of wolves, extremist activists and lawless courts comfort themselves chanting the language of freedom and dignity.

Oh if words could liquidate the bloody mass. If only the opiate had power to save.

The executioners reject the only known adequate foundations of freedom and dignity even as abortion smokestacks weaponize the language of liberation to turn wombs into torture chambers and law into fascist playgrounds.

The legalization of crime makes the murder of offspring a way of life. Those without eyes rejoice in what they see.

But the dead cry out. Though shredded and incinerated, yet they cry out. Let justice flow down like a river.

CDC: 76.4% of Aborted Babies in NYC Are Black or Hispanic

By Rick Pearcey • December 1, 2015, 08:29 AM

Michael Chapman reports at CNSNews.com:

The latest abortion surveillance report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which was published on Friday but covers the year 2012, shows that in New York City 76.4% of the abortions reported by race were of black and Hispanic babies.

"Blacks make up 25.5% of the population in New York City, according to the Census Bureau, and Hispanics comprise 28.6% of the population. Yet Hispanics and blacks equal 76.4% of the abortions in New York City," Chapman reports.

Abortion Industry Already Dancing on Graves of Colorado Springs Shooting Victims

By Rick Pearcey • November 30, 2015, 08:47 AM

Thomas Lifson writes at American Thinker:

Ghoulish exploitation of the deaths and injuries inflicted in Colorado Springs last Friday was always in the cards. What else would you expect from a movement that specializes in death?

Even so, the speed and facility with which Robert Lewis Dear, Jr., a troubled man with many eccentricities (including listing himself as a female on his voter registration and living as a loner in Unabomber-like shacks), has been propagandized as a pro-life activist (a murderous pro-lifer only makes sense in leftist fever swamps) is startling.

"The narrative was already written," Lifson observes, "so that only hours after the shooting before anything at all was known about the shooter, the head of the industry’s trade association was blaming the videos produced by the Center for medical Progress showing Planned Parenthood officials laughing ands joking about all the money they make selling baby parts.

"Subsequently, the words 'no more baby parts' have been attributed to the alleged shooter, although the source of the quote is murky at best, and the public has been cautioned that Dear ranted about many subjects. But the canned narrative blaming the exposure of Planned Parenthood behavior is irresistible to the abortion-loving mass media, so that is what the public is hearing endlessly."

U.S. House Votes to Defund Planned Parenthood in Wake of Baby Parts Scandal

By Rick Pearcey • September 18, 2015, 02:27 PM

Dustin Siggins reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

The U.S. House of Representatives voted today to defund Planned Parenthood while legislators continue their investigation of allegations that the abortion giant is profiting from the sale of fetal body parts.

The bill would take the $235 million of savings and invest it into Federally Qualified Health Centers.

With three Republicans and two Democrats crossing the aisle, the final vote for H.R. 3134, the "Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015," was 241-187.

The bill would defund Planned Parenthood while Congress investigates whether it has violated federal fetal harvesting laws, as well as partial-birth abortion and abortion modification laws.

"Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-TN, said in a statement that the vote was 'about continuing the process to protect our most vulnerable'," according to LifeSiteNews.

"The bill was one of two pro-life bills passed by the House today. The other was H.R. 3504, the 'Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act,' which makes killing a baby born due to a botched abortion first-degree murder," LifeSiteNews reports.

"Neither bill is expected to pass the Senate, which has garnered frustration among many pro-life leaders," LifeSiteNew states.

Office Depot Refuses to Print Copies of Pro-Life Prayer for Planned Parenthood

By Rick Pearcey • September 11, 2015, 02:23 PM

Susan Berry reports at Breitbart.com:

Office Depot has refused to print copies of a pro-life prayer on the grounds that to do so violates company policy of printing material that "advocates the persecution of people who support abortion rights."

"Karen Denning of Office Depot defended her company’s refusal to make copies of the prayer, stating that company policy forbids 'the copying of any type of material that advocates any form of racial or religious discrimination or the persecution of certain groups of people'," Berry reports.

Office Depot "also prohibits copying any type of copyrighted material," Denning added, according to Berry. "The flier contained material that advocates the persecution of people who support abortion rights," Breitbart quotes Denning as saying.

Comment: In my view, if Office Depot wants to go on record as supporting the documented fascist inhumanity of Planned Parenthood, that is Office Depot's ill-advised decision to make.

Office Depot should not be legally attacked for this policy -- this is their business and their property.

But people who support the humanity and dignity of human beings -- red and yellow, black and white, including the diversity and dignity of preborn human beings -- have every right to take their business elsewhere.

In addition, pro-humanity activist groups would do well to educate Office Depot on the corporate inhumanity of their policies in regard to Planned Parenthood. We in the Pearcey household will look to humanity-affirming alternatives so long as Office Depot enables this kind of gross inhumanity.

Let me be clear: So that love, truth, and humanness might grow, evil should be discriminated against -- indeed, evil must be discriminated against.

I hope Office Depot sees the light of day soon. Bravo to those individuals or groups who help that happy day come to pass.

Ex-Satanist: Babies Ritually Aborted for Devil

By Rick Pearcey • August 25, 2015, 10:11 AM

Leo Hohmann writes at WND:

Zachary King remembers the day well. It was in 1982. He was young, rebellious and dabbling in the occult

But on that day, he would make the transition from novice to the deeper things of Satan.

"I had just turned 14, and they told me there was going to be a sex party in someone’s house and all the males in the coven were going to sleep with this woman," recalls King, now 47 and a pro-life activist living in Florida.

"The purpose of the party was to get her pregnant, and then nine months later we were going to be doing an abortion."

"The word abortion was something he’d only heard once before," King recalls, according to Hohmann. "It was used by his mother in a whispered tone."

King says he "went home and looked it up in the dictionary," but "that didn’t really explain it. So I went to the library, and I found whole books which had so much information I couldn't grasp it all."

Then he went to his "coven and asked an older guy, 'What is an abortion?'

"He said, 'We say a spell, and there is a baby in its mother's womb and we kill it'," according to Hohmann.

Read the whole story at WND.

Down the Memory Hole? Question About Jeb Bush's Planned Parenthood Funding Disappears From Debate Transcripts

By Rick Pearcey • August 10, 2015, 02:42 PM

Ben Johnson reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

Journalists have long refused to report the negative side of the abortion industry. Now, the mainstream media have been accused of going one step further: removing mentions of Planned Parenthood funding from the transcripts of the first Republican presidential debate.

Megyn Kelly asked Jeb Bush a probing question about his decision to serve nearly five years on a philanthropy that gave millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, during the Fox News Channel's prime time debate on Thursday. Yet all trace of that question has disappeared from numerous "full" debate transcripts posted by the nation's foremost media websites.

"Jeb Bush served as a founding director of the Bloomberg Family Foundation (now known as the Bloomberg Philanthropies) from 2010 until the end of 2014. While he was responsible for providing oversight, the tax-exempt foundation announced a $50 million family planning grant that included a global partnership with Planned Parenthood to overturn pro-life laws around the world," LifeSiteNews reports.

Kelly asked Bush: "How could you not know about these well-publicized donations? And if you did know, how could you help a charity so openly committed to abortion rights?"

Rather than answer Kelly's question, "Bush responded by speaking about his pro-life record as governor of Florida," Johnson reports for LifeSiteNews. And "when asked a second time, Bush replied, 'I didn’t know, but it doesn’t matter',"

But, of course, it does matter.

"Last Friday night, several members of a voters panel told Kelly that they did not believe Bush was telling the truth about not knowing about the grants," LifeSiteNews reports.

In addition, according to LifeSiteNews, one person on the panel "said that if Jeb did not know, it was a major oversight." Another panelist said Bush "flat-out lied," LifeSiteNews reports.

And yet, "despite the audience's reaction and two days of sustained coverage on Fox, the question does not appear in debate transcripts posted online by The Washington Post, CBS News, and Time magazine," LifeSiteNews reports.

New Planned P'hood Transcript: Nurse Admits "It's Fun" to Dissect Dead Babies

By Rick Pearcey • August 4, 2015, 04:13 PM

Blake Neff reports at the Daily Caller:

The transcript accompanying the latest undercover Planned Parenthood video has an employee of the group admit she finds it "fun" to dissect fetuses for their organs and would "enjoy" the opportunity to do it on behalf of fetal tissue purchasers.

The exchange isn’t included in the 15-minute edited video released Tuesday by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), but is instead buried deep in the 119-page transcript accompanying it (a full-footage version of the video hasn’t been released yet).

In the exchange, Melissa Farrell, director of research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, admits she and her co-worker would find it enjoyable if a tissue buyer wanted them to dissect dead fetuses for parts.

"It would be exciting too if you needed it dissected, because LaShonda and I are the most Curious George of the group," Farrell is quoted as saying. "I know it’s sickening on some level, but it’s fun."

Wheaton College Ends Student Health Insurance Over Obamacare

By Rick Pearcey • July 30, 2015, 10:45 AM

Mariana Barillas reports at Campus Reform:

Wheaton College (Ill.) will no longer offer its students health care coverage after being denied a temporary exemption from the Obamacare contraceptive mandate.

"We regret that we were not able to provide earlier notice of this significant change, which affects roughly a quarter of our student body," said vice president for student development Paul Chelsen in a July 22 statement. The college will not renew its student health insurance plan (SHIP) for the upcoming school year.

"Additionally, Chelsen declared that the 'College desires that every student have access to quality and affordable healthcare' but said an 'unexpected notification' to comply with the contraceptive mandate 'did not allow the College adequate time to make alternate plans to provide student coverage in line with its institutional convictions'," Campus Reform reports.

"As previously reported by Campus Reform," Barillas continues, "Judge Richard Posner, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, denied the college's request for a preliminary injunction earlier this month. If it had been granted, the college would have been given a temporary religious exemption until its lawsuit was decided."

The Chicago-area college "is currently suing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services because of religious objections to 'emergency contraception' coverage as part of its student health plan. The private Christian liberal arts college holds that several act as abortifacients and being required to provide them would violate its religious convictions," Campus Reform reports.

Remove Our Names: "Corporate Donors" Flee Sickening Planned Parenthood -- Coca Cola, Ford, Xerox

By Rick Pearcey • July 24, 2015, 07:24 AM

Chelsea Scism reports at Daily Signal:

Representatives from Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co. and Xerox say they’ve asked Planned Parenthood to remove their names as corporate donors to the embattled organization.

The move follows a Daily Signal report revealing the names of 41 companies that Planned Parenthood listed as donors. That list, which was featured on Planned Parenthood’s website, has since been removed.

"This latest development comes in the wake of two undercover videos that showed Planned Parenthood executives talking about the sale of fetal body parts. Planned Parenthood is facing both federal and state investigations -- and the possibility of losing taxpayer funding," the Daily Signal states.

"Earlier this week, The Daily Signal used information from 2nd Vote to publish the names of 41 companies listed by Planned Parenthood as contributor," the Signal reports. "Shortly after the story was published, representatives from Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co. and Xerox contacted The Daily Signal to say they were erroneously listed and requested that Planned Parenthood take them off its website."

Kirsten Powers: Time to Crush Planned Parenthood

By Rick Pearcey • July 22, 2015, 11:01 AM

At 7:40 p.m. EDT last night, USAToday published a Kirsten Powers column titled "Crush Planned Parenthood" with the kicker "Caught in a stomach-turning video, all it can apologize for is the tone."

Referring to two recently released undercover videos that have just exploded across the news (here and here), Powers states, "The problem is not the tone. It's the crushing.

"It's the organ harvesting of fetuses that abortion-rights activists want us to believe have no more moral value than a fingernail. It's the lie that these are not human beings worthy of protection," Powers writes.

"There is no nice way to talk about this. As my friend and former Obama White House staffer Michael Wear tweeted, 'It should bother us as a society that we have use for aborted human organs, but not the baby that provides them'."

Powers next deals with Planned Parenthood's unsuccessful attempts to knock down the video, such as: "It's heavily edited," it's a "humanitarian exercise," the video-maker once wrote for the Weekly Standard (!).

In addition, Powers notes that Planned Parenthood's "usual defenders are nowhere to be found." For example, "There was total silence from The New York Times editorial board and their 10 (out of 11) pro-abortion rights columnists. Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi -- both recipients of Planned Parenthood’s highest honor, the Margaret Sanger Award -- have been mum."

Then there's the sad effort by "Mississippi abortion doctor Willie Parker," who "ran with the trope that direct quotes from a Planned Parenthood doctor constitute a vicious attack," Powers writes.

But this savage doctor wasn't done. "He compared Nucatola to Jesus," Powers writes.

"It's no secret that my frame of reference for the work that I do and in terms of generating compassion is related to my religious understanding and, in particular, my Christian religious understanding," Powers quotes Parker as telling Cosmopolitan magazine.

That "Christian" "religious" "understanding" reveals to the abortionist, he says, "a strong parallel between what's happening to my colleague [Nucatola] and the trial week of Jesus before he was crucified [as] he was marched from place to place, asked to answer allegations."

Total nonsense, of course. Jesus sacrificed his life for others, but abortionists kill others to advance themselves, sell aborted baby body parts over lunch, and trade blood for money to buy Lamborghinis. These and other subtle differences between the humane Jesus of history and the inhumane abortionism of Planned Parenthood abound.

Powers concludes: "When abortion doctors are elevated to gods who may not be questioned or held accountable, society has officially gone off the rails."

"The gods" should of course be questioned (a mentality I have written about in a book Foreword here).

For that matter, in matters big and small, the unquestioning mantra of "don't think, just believe" may be accepted in many circles today -- whether in church, on campus, in the voting booth, or in the boardroom, or in the fevered minds of abortion-believing fanatics -- but that mantra is totally inadequate to the free-thinking human being endowed by the Creator to think, evaluate evidence, and "test everything."

This approach, by the way, is central to Nancy Pearcey's new book, Finding Truth: 5 Principles for Unmasking Atheism, Secularism, and Other God Substitutes. If you want real-world principles for questioning the inhumane prescriptions of our age, or of any age, this book is a terrific place to begin.

Texas Deprives Planned Parenthood of $1.2 Million a Year in Taxpayer Funding

By Rick Pearcey • June 1, 2015, 04:45 PM

Fr. Mark Hodges reports at LifeSiteNews:

Texas legislators have deprived Planned Parenthood of an estimated $1.2 million of taxpayer funds a year by removing the nation's largest abortion provider from a program that provides women with cancer screenings.

"Many feel very strongly that the facilities receiving funding should not be facilities that are performing abortions," said Sen. Jane Nelson, chair of the Senate Committee on Finance. "So, the answer is: Don't perform abortions and you get the money."

"Updated budget language removes Planned Parenthood from the Breast and Cervical Cancer Services (BCCS) program by stipulating that providers must be eligible for the Texas Women's Health Program," according to LifeSiteNews.

U.S. federal and state taxpayers sent nearly $1.5 billion to Planned Parenthood and five other groups that promote abortion and population control between 2010 and 2012, according to a federal watchdog report.

The report, which was released to the public on Wednesday, [is] in response to a request by more than 70 members of Congress.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) provided an update to a 2010 report on funding provided to Advocates for Youth, Guttmacher Institute, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Population Council, and the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS).

Wendy Davis Supporter Hurls Molotov Cocktail at Pro-Lifers

By Rick Pearcey • March 27, 2015, 08:45 AM

Bob Unruh reports at WND:

A new level of violence apparently has been reached by abortion advocates in Texas, which has been rocked by the issue recently, including a disruption in the state legislature when pro-abortion Democrat state Sen. Wendy Davis staged a 13-hour filibuster and later when her supporters were caught on a recording chanting "Hail Satan."

The latest case has resulted in the arrest of a Davis supporter, Melanie Toney, 52, on a charge she lobbed a lit glass bottle with explosive fuel out of her car at pro-life activists near an abortion clinic.

According to KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas, the Molotov cocktail was thrown at a group of women praying in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic Monday. Charges against Toney now include aggravated assault after Austin police and bomb squad members responded.

It's a Girl! Therefore, Kill It

By Rick Pearcey • March 18, 2015, 11:56 AM

"One of the biggest threats, the biggest killers of girls today, attacks on women today, is sex-selective abortion," Lila Rose, pro-life activist and president of Live Action, said in a panel presentation at the U.N.’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) on Thursday, March 12," Lauretta Brown reports at CNSNews.com.

"I'm not sure how many people are aware of this, but one of the challenges that we're facing in the United States and other countries across the world is what The Economist has called the war on baby girls," Rose said in remarks captured on video available at CNSNews.

"There's over 100 million missing girls in the world today because of sex-selective abortion killing off children in the womb -- particularly little girls because they're not seen as valuable as men, as valuable as boys," Rose said.

Honeymoon Over: Scott Walker Hires Pro-Amnesty, Pro-Abort, Pro-Homosex "Marriage" Staffer

By Rick Pearcey • March 17, 2015, 08:14 AM

Matthew Boyle writes at Breitbart.com:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker made another massive misstep on Monday, hiring Liz Mair of Mair Strategies to handle communications and social media for his campaign-in-waiting.

Mair’s support for amnesty for illegal aliens, wide-open-borders immigration policies, and public advocacy for the Senate "Gang of Eight" amnesty bill is sure to dog Walker in Iowa, South Carolina, and other early presidential states.

"Steve Deace, a nationally syndicated conservative radio host based in Iowa, said in an interview with Breitbart News that Mair 'is on the wrong side of three issues that are non-starters, non-negotiables for Iowa conservatives'," Boyle continues.

"Deace said the issues that Mair is bringing into the Walker campaign are her support for amnesty, her support of same-sex marriage, and her support of abortion," Boyle states.

“If you go to her website, she’s got her own little pro-killing apologetic she posts up there,” Deace said, according to Boyle.

"Those are bad enough," Boyle also quotes Deace as saying, "but where this delves beyond just issue disagreement into amateur hour is the fact that while Scott Walker is having a debutante ball at the Iowa Freedom Summit hosted by Steve King . . . she is on Twitter ripping the event and ripping Iowans, saying Iowans are 'embarrassing' that as soon as Iowa loses its first in the nation status the better we’ll all be."

U.S. House Gets Second Bill Aiming to Enshrine Right to Life From Conception

By Rick Pearcey • February 11, 2015, 09:14 AM

The House of Representatives now has two bills before it aiming to protect all unborn children from the moment of conception.

On January 21, Rep. Jody Hice, R-GA, introduced the "Sanctity of Human Life Act," or H.R. 426, which would define human life as beginning at conception.

That bill, introduced by former Rep. Paul Broun, R-GA in past Congresses, has now been joined by H.R. 816, the "Life at Conception Act," which was first introduced in 2007.

"I have always believed the greatest duty of society is to protect the most defenseless among us," said Alex Mooney, R-WV, who introduced the bill.

"There are thousands of unborn babies who need us to fight tirelessly on the issue of human life. A human life is a precious thing and anything I can do to fight for the most vulnerable among us, I will," LifeSiteNews quotes Mooney as saying.

Pelosi Asked Twice If Unborn Baby at 20 Weeks Is "Human": Refuses to Respond

By Rick Pearcey • January 26, 2015, 08:22 AM

John Jalsevac writes at LifeSiteNews.com:

Is an unborn baby at 20 weeks human? It’s a straightforward question, but House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi couldn’t bring herself to respond to it when asked twice during a press briefing [January 23].

Both times Pelosi dodged the question, saying that politicians shouldn’t be involved in "reproductive health" choices. (Watch video of her answer here.)

The second time the question was answered, Pelosi argued in her response that as "a Catholic and a mom of five" she has "great standing" on the issue. More, she said, than most of her colleagues, and even the pope.

"The question, and follow-up, were asked by a reporter with CNSNews in reference to the ongoing debate about a bill in Congress that would ban abortion after 20 weeks, except in cases of rape, incest, and a threat to the life of the mother. The bill bases the ban upon the science showing that babies at that age can feel the pain of being aborted," according to Jalsevac.

"One recent poll found that 84% of Americans support the bill," Jalsevac writes.

When Abortion Icon Margaret Sanger Spoke to the KKK

By Rick Pearcey • January 22, 2015, 04:10 PM

Paul Kengor writes at American Spectator:

Sanger did not unwittingly speak to a group with a link (direct or indirect) to the KKK through a member. No, Margaret knowingly went directly to the Real McCoy -- straight to the dragon’s mouth. In May 1926, a hopeful spring day, this progressive icon, this liberal hero, this founding mother of one of liberalism’s most sacred organizations, Planned Parenthood, an organization that liberals demand we fund with tax dollars, went directly to a KKK meeting and spoke at length to the faithful.

There’s no excuse for not knowing that Sanger did this, other than the routine self-censorship and self-imposed ignorance that liberals excel at imposing on themselves. Sanger openly wrote about in her 1938 autobiography published by W.W. Norton, one of the leading New York publishing houses.

"Sanger relayed little of what she shared with the klanswomen at their rally, though apparently she was extremely successful and satisfied with herself: 'I believed I had accomplished my purpose. A dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered. The conversation went on and on, and when we were finally through it was too late to return to New York'," Kengor writes.

"The Planned Parenthood founder’s KKK talk was apparently a smash hit. Not only did it go very late, after a very long wait, but no less than 'a dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered'," Kengor observes.

Carly Fiorina: Science Is Why Pro-Life Winning the Abortion Debate

By Rick Pearcey • January 21, 2015, 10:58 AM

Pete Balinski reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

Science is winning the abortion debate and making clear that the Democrats' position on the issue is "extreme, hypocritical, and inconsistent," said business leader Carly Fiorina, rumoured to be considering a 2016 presidential campaign, during the keynote address [at] a Heritage Foundation life-and-family forum in Washington, DC.

"Science is helping those of us who believe in the sanctity of life to make our case every day. Science is why more and more young people are becoming pro-life," she said at the event, which was co-hosted by the National Review Institute.

"The former CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company pointed out how the DNA of a zygote continues to be the same DNA of the person throughout the entire spectrum of his or her life. She also noted how in utero surgery continues to shed light on the humanity of the pre-born," according to LifeSiteNews.

"Fiorina told LifeSiteNews after the event that if she were to ever lead a presidential campaign, she would not shun the issue of abortion," Balinski reports.

"'This is an issue that we should not be afraid of,' she said," according to LifeSiteNews, "adding that abortion at 'any time for any reason' is an 'incredibly extreme position' that is rejected by many Americans."

A Feminist Christmas Tale: God Raped Mary

By Rick Pearcey • December 23, 2014, 10:27 AM

Kristine Marsh writes at Newsbusters:

Salon and Alternet seem to exist only to provide click-bait for kooks. Alternet certainly succeeded with their Sunday article entitled, "Why rape is so intrinsic to religion" which was also cross-posted on partner site Salon. In the article by Valerie Tarico, she tries to argue that the virgin birth of Jesus Christ was God raping Mary, similar to Greek and Hindu tales of gods raping women. "It's a common theme in the history of religion, and it's more than a little rapey," Tarico claims.

"'Rapey' is not exactly an adjective most would use to describe the Christmas story, but never underestimate what an Alternet writer can come up with!," Marsh writes.

"Tarico even manages to tie it all in to 'the shocking prevalence' of rape 'on college campuses and in society at large. I guess she completely ignored the Rolling Stone apology and media blow-up, showing that one student’s account of shocking gang rape might've been false. Not to mention, the most recent comprehensive study from the DOJ which shows, 20 percent of college-age women are not raped on campus, more like 0.6%," Marsh observes.

Comment: Feminism despises Christianity, for an unholy slew of reasons. Perhaps one of them is that feminism despises truly strong women. Mary, of course, could have said no, and there is no indication that God would have forced her (see Luke 1:26-38). Instead, she made an informed choice: "May your word to me be fulfilled" (Luke 1:38).

The Bible affirms the significance of human beings, that we can make decisions and change history. Choice is crucial, but it is not a blank check that lets one class of humanity (pregnant women) decide whether another class of humanity (preborn human beings) lives or dies.

Yes, Scripture does not look kindly upon abortofascism. Yet another reason some might choose to despise a God of truth and love who acts into verifiable human history to overcome evil with good.

Folks who are truly concerned about rape might note that trying to rape truth to bend it to their inhumane social and political agendas is not a sign of good faith. Let it not be done according to their word.

It's Not Just Obamacare: Gruber Says Abortion Is a Social Good

By Rick Pearcey • November 26, 2014, 09:08 AM

Dustin Siggins writes at CNSNews.com:

Over the last three weeks, MIT professor and Affordable Care Act (ACA) architect Jon Gruber has gone from being an academic, known mostly in policy circles, to the face of political dishonesty and manipulation. Gruber, who helped create and sell the ACA to the American people, has been caught on tape admitting -- on multiple occasions -- that the law was written to mislead the public.

But that's not all that he's done. As originally reported by Jerome Corsi, Gruber is the author of at least two separate reports arguing that legalized abortion has tremendous social benefit. His work also provided some of the foundation for the 2005 book, Freakonomics, which promoted the idea of abortion as a means of improving society's children.

Texas House Republicans Choosing Political Gain Over the Unborn

By Rick Pearcey • November 17, 2014, 10:07 AM

Brandon Darby writes at Breitbart:

Texas House Republicans are poised to show that the sanctity of unborn life is a matter they can compromise on in order to achieve legislative success on other issues in the coming Texas legislative session.

The House Republicans are expected to choose a NARAL (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League) favored candidate, current Speaker Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) over the pro-life challenger, Scott Turner (R-Frisco) in the race for Speaker of the Texas House.

Pro-life Republicans make up a near two-thirds majority of the Texas House, which will take its first recorded vote when they convene on January 13, 2015, to select the Speaker of the House for the 84th Legislative Session.

Straus is supported by House Democrats and pro-choice moderate Republicans, while Turner has been graded one of the most conservative members of the House, and has a reputation for supporting pro-life issues.

Planned Parenthood Created for "Population Control" of U.S. Blacks: Sen. Ted Cruz’s Dad

By Rick Pearcey • September 5, 2014, 11:12 AM

Dustin Siggins reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

Margaret Sanger's original goal for Planned Parenthood was to limit the nation's population of black people, says the father of a prominent senator.

Rafael Cruz, father of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX, told the Western Williamson County Republican Club in Texas August 21, "Margaret Sanger was the founder of Planned Parenthood. And you can Google it and look at her written statement. The purpose of creating Planned Parenthood was for population control in the black neighborhoods. Look at where all or most of the abortion clinics are: in the black neighborhoods to control their population."

"Every black . . . should be enraged," he added.

"Sanger, who began the Negro Project in 1939 and founded Planned Parenthood as a contraceptive organization, wrote in a letter that 'we do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population and the [black] minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members'," LifeSiteNews reports.

Report: Planned Parenthood Enables Rape, Sex Trafficking, Child Abuse

By Rick Pearcey • May 29, 2014, 09:33 AM

Tristyn Bloom reports at Daily Caller

A just-released investigation from pro-life organization Live Action accuses Planned Parenthood of complicity with statutory rape, sex trafficking, and child abuse -- all funded by American taxpayers.

"An organization this unscrupulous and dangerous -- an instrumental prosecutor of the 'war on women' we hear so much about in the news cycle . . . should not receive even a cent of American taxpayers' income," said Live Action founder Lila Rose in a statement Wednesday morning.

Louisiana Passes Bill That Could Shut Down 3 of State’s 5 Abortion Facilities

By Rick Pearcey • May 23, 2014, 10:14 AM

Dustin Siggins reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

A pro-life bill that could close three of Louisiana’s five abortion facilities is expected to become law next week once it receives the signature of Gov. Bobby Jindal.

HB 388, which requires all abortion clinic doctors to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of a clinic, received overwhelming bipartisan support. Introduced by Rep. Katrina Jackson, a Democrat, it passed the state House by a vote of 88-5 on Wednesday. It passed the state Senate on May 14 by a margin of 34-3.

Jindal is "expected to sign" the bill," LifeSiteNews reports.

Aborted Babies Incinerated to Heat Hospitals

By Rick Pearcey • March 24, 2014, 11:35 AM

The U.K. Telegraph reports:

The bodies of thousands of aborted and miscarried babies were incinerated as clinical waste, with some even used to heat hospitals, an investigation has found.

Ten NHS trusts have admitted burning foetal remains alongside other rubbish while two others used the bodies in "waste-to-energy" plants which generate power for heat.

"At least 15,500 foetal remains were incinerated by 27 NHS trusts over the last two years alone, Channel 4’s Dispatches discovered," according to the Telegraph.

Girl Scout CEO Makes YouTube Plea Against Cookiecott

By Rick Pearcey • February 24, 2014, 05:03 AM

Austin Ruse writes at Breitbart.com:

There is now little doubt that the Girl Scout cookie boycott is having an effect on cookie sales this year.

Girl Scout spokesman Kelly Parisi went on The O’Reilly Factor this week to try and defuse the mounting controversy, and Girl Scout executives have sent threatening letters to their critics.

Girl Scout CEO Anna Marie Chavez took to YouTube on Thursday to deny all charges leveled by the boycotters and to deny at least one charge they haven’t even made.

Despite these efforts, "Girl Scout watchdog groups say Chavez has cleared up nothing and responded with a flurry of fact checks provided to Breitbart News," Ruse reports.

"When Chavez insists the Girl Scouts have never had a relationship with Planned Parenthood," Ruse continues, "Girl Scout critics point to the 2004 admission made by Chavez’s predecessor, Kathy Cloninger, on The Today Show: 'We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCAs, and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country'."

"Beyond this admission by the former Girl Scout CEO, Ann Saladin, a stay-at-home-mom and former Girl Scout leader, has documented other examples of such collusion on the website MyGirlScoutCouncil.com," Breitbart reports.

Ann Coulter: The Heroism of "Sugar Daddy" Wendy Davis

By Rick Pearcey • January 23, 2014, 12:02 PM

Ann Coulter writes:

Wendy Davis, the Texas state senator running for governor, became a liberal superhero last June when she filibustered a bill to prohibit abortions after 20 weeks. (This was the good filibuster, not that awful filibuster three months later by Ted Cruz -- that was just grandstanding.)

Apart from her enthusiasm for abortion (and you have to admit, abortion is really cool), the centerpiece of Davis’ campaign is her life story. Also the fact that she’s a progressive woman who doesn’t look like Betty Friedan.

"In a typical formulation," Coulter continues, "Time magazine said Davis was someone who could give the Democrats '"real people' credibility," based on 'her own personal story -- an absent father, a sixth-grade-educated mother, a teen pregnancy, followed by life as a single mom in a mobile home, then community college and, at last, Harvard Law School.'

Coulter then turns to headlines that "capture the essence of Wendy-mania." For example --

CNN: Wendy Davis: From Teen Mom to Harvard Law to Famous Filibuster

Bloomberg: Texas Filibuster Star Rose From Teen Mom to Harvard Law

The Independent (UK): Wendy Davis: Single Mother From Trailer Park Who Has Become Heroine of Pro-Choice Movement

Cosmopolitan: Find a Sugar Daddy to Put You Through Law School!

"Actually," says Coulter, "that last one I made up, but as we now know, it's more accurate than Davis' rags-to-riches life story."

Girl Scouts Sleaze: Replaces "Homopunk" Rocker With Abortion Advocate

By Rick Pearcey • January 10, 2014, 09:43 AM

Austin Ruse writes at Breitbart.com:

The Girl Scouts want you to know that nothing has happened to Josh Ackley. Last month, Breitbart News reported that Ackley -- the main media spokesman for the Scouts -- was also the lead singer of a "homopunk" band, The Dead Betties, who made several controversial videos, including one where a woman is strangled and another where a young man writhes naked on the ground and appears to touch his genitals.

Within a few days of the story breaking, the Girl Scouts scrubbed Ackley from their media page, though the Scouts tweeted on December 19 that he was still around: "We’re happy to clear this up for you. Not only is Josh Ackley still employed, no one has been demoted."

"Many who watch the Girl Scouts and their leftward drift viewed the Josh Ackley scandal as merely a sideshow -- certainly an illumination into the current Girl Scout mindset, but still just a sideshow," Ruse writes.

"The real story of the rolling Girl Scout scandal," Ruse continues, "is their attachment to feminist politics, particularly their connection to Planned Parenthood, which is the largest single abortion provider in the United States. . . .

"So, it came as no surprise that the new Girl Scout media spokesman came from the Ms. Foundation, one of the preeminent abortion advocacy groups in the country. . . . According to their own website, in 2012 the Ms Foundation for Women contributed more than $1 million to abortion advocacy."

"Abortion Barbie" Wendy Davis "Pro-Life"?

By Rick Pearcey • November 11, 2013, 12:12 PM

"Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth), best known for her 11-hour filibuster against a controversial bill aimed at severely cutting access to abortion services across the Lone Star State, said her views on abortion make her 'pro-life'," writes Paige Lavender at the Huffington Post.

What are those views?  "I care about the life of every child," she told the Valley Morning Star of Harlington, Texas. "Every child that goes to bed hungry, every child that goes to bed without a proper education, every child that goes to bed without being able to be a part of the Texas dream, every woman and man who worry about their children’s future and their ability to provide for that future. I care about life and I have a record of fighting for people above all else.”

But Mockarena at Chicks on the Right seems unconvinced. "Abortion Barbie herself, Wendy Davis, is calling herself pro-life now.  Yes -- the same Wendy Davis who catheterized herself to talk for 11 hours about how aborting babies late-term is so completely necessary and perfectly ok," Mockarena writes.

Ms. Davis, who filed paperwork last Saturday to run for governor of Texas, is of course not pro-life. To advocate that one class of people (pregnant females) should be allowed to destroy another class of people (unborn males and females) is pro-death, not pro-life. It is a policy reminiscent of fascism, not of freedom. It trafficks in cruelty, not compassion.

Of course, anybody can say, "I care about life." And some people may be sincere in saying so.

But a statement like this falls flat once you realize it does not include caring about the real lives of innocent preborn human beings if and when pregnant females decide to impose their will and kill those people.

This is not about caring, it's about controlling -- up to and including the ultimate control of an abortionist's tool-kit of horror. The "caring" state -- whether Texas or the federal government -- that can legitimize your death can terrorize you in your life, should you happen to escape the womb.

Wendy Davis' abortion beliefs are inhumane. They are neither scientific (because pro-abortion is anti-science), nor are they ethical (because "pro-choice" entails the planned killing of the innocent).

In fact, her beliefs aren't even pro-choice: For to kill a baby is to kill a lifetime of choices. To borrow from Camus, this is philosophy legitimizing crime -- a crime against science, ethics, humanness, and choice.

The people of Texas should not allow Davis to impose her private values and inhumane beliefs upon real people, including those individuals who are blessed to be alive but happen to be unborn. When it comes to abortion and truly caring about real people, including "the least of these," the "Abortion Barbie" is no doll. Let the children live.

NJ Senate Race: Pro-Life, Pro-Marriage Lonegan vs. Pro-Abortion Homosexualist Booker

When New Jersey voters go to the polls Wednesday to elect their new U.S. Senator, they won’t have to wonder what the candidates think about abortion or same-sex “marriage.”

In a political climate that has seen many campaigns minimize controversial social issues in favor of popular fiscal catchphrases like “job creation” and “tax reform,” candidates Cory Booker (D) and Steve Lonegan (R) have taken the opposite approach, exchanging frequent verbal blows about social issues ranging from gay adoption to partial birth abortion.

Ultrasound in a Mercedes: Abortion Clinic's Worst Nightmare

By Rick Pearcey • September 10, 2013, 12:05 PM

Peter Baklinsi reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

How can pro-lifers effectively reach out to women who are literally en route to abort their unborn babies? For the pro-life movement, that’s the million-dollar question.

Now one pro-life innovator, Joe Baker, founder and president of Save the Storks, believes he has found the answer: A mobile, fully-equipped, state-of-the-art medical center custom fitted into a Mercedes-Benz van, parked directly between the woman and the abortion clinic. . . .

Bakers’ vans sport an image of a large stork flying with a wrapped bundle in its beak, with the words "Save the Storks" written in large letters across the side of the van.

According to Baker, the image of the large bird carrying a bundled baby breaks down barriers, since for many people, the stork has a comforting and somewhat nostalgic connection to motherhood and pregnancy.

The interior of the vans are equipped with massage chairs, an examination table, a toilet for pregnancy testing, and an ultrasound machine. They are designed to create a comfortable and confidential space in which an abortion-minded woman will feel welcomed and safe.

"Save the Storks has found that a woman will more likely choose life if she finds support during and after her pregnancy, if she is provided with necessary resources, and if she can see her baby through ultrasound," according to LifeSiteNews.

"Calling the sonogram 'magic,' Baker said that when a woman having entered the Stork van sees her baby for the first time, 'there’s a bond that happens that is like nothing else'," LifeSiteNews reports.

On Twitter I recently saw a question asking: "Why do abortion advocates hate ultrasound pictures?"

"Because ultrasound pictures discriminate against death," I answered. Yes, the sonogram is "magic," but it is the magic of life revealed by information of science.

Abortion is anti-science and inhumane.

Bravo to Save the Storks for its creative, humane, and informed approach to ending the slaughter of "the least of these."

Obama's Final Word: Catholics Must Buy/Provide Coverage for Abortion Drugs

By Rick Pearcey • July 1, 2013, 10:27 AM

Terry Jeffrey writes at CNSNews.com:

The Department of Health and Human Services [June 28] released the final text of the final adjustments to the Obamacare regulation that requires virtually all health-care plans to provide cost-free coverage for sterilizations, contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs [see, Why Pro-Abortion Is Anti-Science].

Catholics and Evangelical Christians have objected to the regulation, arguing that it violates their First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion. The Catholic Church teaches that sterilization, contraception and abortion are all intrinsically immoral. Evangelical Christians believe that abortion takes an innocent human life and is thus wrong.

The final regulation issued today provides no accommodations at all for individual Catholics and other Christians who morally object to the mandate. It also makes no accommodations for private for-profit employers who morally object to the mandate.

"The First Amendment says Congress can make no law 'prohibiting the free exercise' of religion," Jeffrey writes. "The Obama administration now says to Catholics and other Christians who oppose sterilization, contraception and/or abortion: You are not free to exercise your faith. You must act against its teachings. You must do what we say, not what your conscience says."

Girl Scouts Join Planned Parenthood at Huge Pro-Abortion Conference

By Rick Pearcey • June 11, 2013, 09:21 AM

Sydney Volanski writes at LifeSiteNews:

Tell me who you hang out with and I’ll tell you who you are.

Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA), offers this pithy saying as her favorite quote. In order to figure out who the Girl Scouts are, I suppose we must follow Ms. Chávez’ logic and look at the organizations that GSUSA associates with.

A good place to start would be the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). WAGGGS has member organizations across the globe, the largest of which is GSUSA, contributing approximately a quarter of the ten million members that belong to WAGGGS.

GSUSA is a co-founder of WAGGS and one of WAGGGS’ largest financial supporters, paying over $1 million each year in membership fees which are triggered by each girl and adult member’s annual GSUSA registration.

The global organization is a well-known advocate for sexual and reproductive rights, including abortion, for youth, and claims to speak for all of its 10 million members.

"In May 2013, WAGGGS participated in Women Deliver, a global conference with the purpose of 'call[ing] for action to improve the health and well-being of girls and women'," Volanski writes.

"The conference featured speakers such as late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart, philosopher Peter Singer, who supports infanticide and euthanasia, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius," Volanski continues.

"Some of the breakout sessions were entitled 'Outing and Addressing Abortion Stigma' and 'Why I Perform Abortions'," according to Volanski. "Exhibitors included many abortion and population control advocates such as Amnesty International, Guttmacher Institute, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Marie Stopes International, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, United Nations Population Fund, and WAGGGS."

Peter Singer: Women’s Right to Have Children Might Have to Be Sacrificed for the Environment

By Rick Pearcey • June 5, 2013, 02:10 PM

LifeSiteNews.com reports:

Bioethicist Peter Singer compared women and children to cows overgrazing a field and said that women’s reproductive rights may one day have to be sacrificed for the environment. He made the remarks at the global Women Deliver Conference last week, hailed as the most important meeting to focus on women and girls’ human rights in a decade.

The controversial Princeton University professor, known for championing infanticide and bestiality, was a featured panelist on Thursday at the three-day Women Deliver conference attended by Melinda Gates and more than 4,000 abortion and contraception activists in Kuala Lumpur.

"The right to graze as many cows as you like on the common was not an absolute right," Singer is quoted as saying.

"Obviously this is what I think we ought to be saying even about how many children we have . . . I hope we don’t get to a point where we do have to override it . . . but I don’t think we ought to shrink away from considering that as a possibility," Singer said, according to LifeSiteNews.

Professors: Pro-Life Students “Appear to Have a Lot in Common With Those Who Supported Lynching?

By Rick Pearcey • April 19, 2013, 04:18 PM

Ben Johnson reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

Idealistic young men and women at the University at Buffalo may have dedicated their lives to protecting the unborn, but according to some of their professors, they are similar to Americans "who supported lynching."

Six history professors swiftly condemned the campus chapter of Students For Life after a university-approved display stirred controversy.

The six professors are:

* Susan Cahn, Professor of History
* Carole Emberton, Assistant Professor of History;
* Theresa Runstedtler, Assistant Professor of American Studies;
* Lakisha Simmons, Assistant Professor of Global Gender Studies;
* Victoria Wolcott, Professor of History; and
* Jason Young, Associate Professor of History

"As a student in the history department and president of the pro-life club on campus, not only am I ashamed and appalled that my professors twisted our message to suit their point of view, but I am offended due to their false characterization of our argument," Students for Life chapter President Christian Andzel is quoted as responding. "We were citing the history of oppression and voicelessness of the victims who deserved human rights and justice."

"This is not the kind of example professors from a public university, funded with our tax money, should be setting for our students,” Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins is quoted as saying.

"We stand with UB Students for Life," Hawkins continued, "for courageously fighting to bring the truth of abortion to a liberal campus, despite attempts to shout them down, cover the display, and personally attack group leaders like President Christian Andzel."

By Rick Pearcey • April 17, 2013, 12:04 PM

Todd Starnes reports at FoxNews:

A University of Buffalo professor was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after she launched into a profanity-laced tirade directed towards a group of pro-life students.

"Where does it say I can’t use the f**k word in public," Professor Laura Curry screamed at students. "I can swear because that’s part of my vocabulary. That’s part of my First Amendment rights."

Curry, an adjunct instructor of media study, was lashing out at the University’s Students for Life organization. The group had erected a pro-life display featuring images that offended Curry.

"I can swear in public because that is profane," she said referring to the display. "That image is swearing to me. That is profane to me."

Here is video of the professor in action.

Rep. Smith Asks Media: "Why the Censorship" of Abortionist's "Jeffrey Dahmer-Like Murder Trial"?

By Rick Pearcey • April 13, 2013, 09:49 AM

Patrick Burke reports at CNSNews.com:

Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) called out the national news media for their nearly non-existent coverage of the ongoing and gruesome trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia, who is accused of cutting the spinal cords of babies who survived abortions, the death of a mother, and a variety of related charges.

"Why the censorship?" Smith asked in a speech delivered on the House floor on Thursday.

"Now, another national media cover up!" said Smith. "In this case, even when a Jeffrey Dahmer-like murder trial of an abortionist named Kermit Gosnell, who ran the benign-sounding Women’s Medical [Society,] unfolds in a Philadelphia courtroom replete with shocking testimony of beheadings, unfathomable abuse, death, and body parts in jars."

"On Thursday, Fox News’ 'Special Report with Bret Baier' ran a segment in which Baier reported that NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS have done zero stories on the Gosnell trial. The exception was CNN, which did one story," CNSNews.com reports.

Kirsten Powers on Gosnell Horror: "Suddenly MSM Not Interested in Racism"

By Rick Pearcey • April 12, 2013, 04:14 PM

Powers Tweets: "Gosnell . . . did not oversee the admin of anesthesia -- except when the patient was white." (grandjury) [emphasis added]

As darkness is to light, and night is to day, so are today's formerly mainstream media to fair and honest reporting. To think otherwise is an abortion of intellect.

Kirsten Powers: Media's "Deafening Silence" on Philadelphia Abortion Horror a "Disgrace"

By Rick Pearcey • April 11, 2013, 09:33 AM

Kirsten Powers writes:

Infant beheadings. Severed baby feet in jars. A child screaming after it was delivered alive during an abortion procedure. Haven't heard about these sickening accusations?

It's not your fault. Since the murder trial of Pennsylvania abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell began March 18, there has been precious little coverage of the case that should be on every news show and front page. The revolting revelations of Gosnell's former staff, who have been testifying to what they witnessed and did during late-term abortions, should shock anyone with a heart. . . .

A Lexis-Nexis search shows none of the news shows on the three major national television networks has mentioned the Gosnell trial in the last three months. The exception is when Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan hijacked a segment on Meet the Press meant to foment outrage over an anti-abortion rights law in some backward red state. . . .

"You don't have to oppose abortion rights to find late-term abortion abhorrent or to find the Gosnell trial eminently newsworthy. This is not about being 'pro-choice' or 'pro-life.' It's about basic human rights," Powers writes.

Conclusion: "The deafening silence of too much of the media, once a force for justice in America, is a disgrace."

Good-Bye Leo: She Gave Her Son for Adoption

By Nancy Pearcey • March 4, 2013, 03:06 PM

From "'My Baby, Not My Child': Callie Mitchell Documents Giving Her Son for Adoption," by Emma Mustich at Huffington Post:

[Mitchell explains:] "I was never completely sure that I was making the right decision until I saw Leo in his parents' arms. And I saw them together, and I knew that that was exactly what was supposed to happen. He was supposed to be with these people; they were supposed to raise him -- it was just so natural for them to hold him."

For Mitchell, giving Leo to his adoptive parents was an exercise in extreme selflessness. "It's not about the birth parent, it's about the child being born," she said. . . .

Mitchell said she wants to let others know that adoption can be a beautiful thing (a perspective she realizes it may be easier to appreciate now that her pregnancy is over).

"I just want people to know that it's OK to admit that you can't take care of a baby. It's OK to admit that you can't take care of your child. And it's OK to give your child to somebody who can."

Conn. Parent Tries to Ban High School Pro-Life "Hate Group" . . . "Terroristic"

By Rick Pearcey • February 22, 2013, 07:14 PM

Thaddeus Baklinski reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

A parent with a daughter attending Branford High School complained to the local school board that the pro-life club at the school "is a club that gets its directive from an extreme base of hate and intolerance. Their tactics of killing doctors, assaulting women, blowing up clinics is terroristic in nature and a total disregard for law and woman at large."

Girl Scouts "Give Thanks" for Membership in Worldwide Pro-Abortion Organization

By Rick Pearcey • February 22, 2013, 03:25 PM

Cathy Ruse writes at LifeSiteNews.com:

Today the Girl Scouts of America celebrate “World Thinking Day" . . . .

They also "give thanks for" their membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), the creator of World Thinking Day. And to really show their thanks, they collect money to send it to WAGGGS. Parents, hold on to your pocketbooks!

Who or what is WAGGGS? "A noted player on the international stage, WAGGGS is an ardent advocate for controversial social policies including abortion and sex rights for children," writes Ruse.

Moreover, "Girl Scouts USA is its single largest organizational funder. In fact, every American girl who joins a Girl Scout troop at her neighborhood church is made a de facto member of this radical group."

Teen Sues Parents to Stop Coerced Abortion

By Rick Pearcey • February 15, 2013, 10:04 AM

John Jalsevac reports at LifeSiteNews:

A pregnant Texas teen is suing her parents for allegedly attempting to coerce her into an abortion using "verbal and physical threats."

The girl, 16, who is two months pregnant, claims that her parents have taken her phone and her car and have kept her home from school as punishment for not aborting. She also claims that her parents and grandparents conspired to slip her an abortion drug.

A judge has granted a temporary restraining order against the parents until the case is heard. . . .

Black Pro-Lifer Files Lawsuit Against NAACP (National Association for the Abortion of Colored People)

By Rick Pearcey • February 7, 2013, 07:53 AM

Ben Johnson reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People threatened with legal action Ryan Bomberger for using its name and trademark to oppose abortion. Now the chief creative officer of The Radiance Foundation is fighting back.

Bomberger said he received a letter from NAACP attorney Ned T. Himmelrich accusing him of "trademark infringement" for mentioning the NAACP in his artwork and his website. The artist and musician, who is black, often refers to the organization as the "National Association for the Abortion of Colored People," a designation that singularly displeased its liberal leadership.

"It is ironic that a black man is being sued by the nation’s oldest civil rights group for exercising his most basic civil right -- the freedom of speech," Bomberger is quoted as saying.

"This threat of legal action from the NAACP is nothing more than a multi-million dollar organization’s attempt to bully someone who’s simply telling the truth."

"About One in Four Black Babies Aborted"

By Rick Pearcey • January 26, 2013, 06:22 PM

Paul Strand reports at CBN:

Statistics show about one in four black babies are aborted. . . .

"We're witnessing numbers of about 1,500 black babies a day that are dying," said Pastor Stephen Broden of the group Life Always.

"Broden partly blames the media for refusing to cover this de facto genocide. His organization has put up billboards across the nation to highlight the growing tragedy," CBN reports.

On the other hand: "So what if abortion ends a life?"

Hundreds of Thousands Join Record-Breaking March for Life

By Rick Pearcey • January 26, 2013, 08:30 AM

Ben Johnson reports at LifeSiteNews.com:

Huddled under winter coats and hats and scarves, hundreds of thousands of pro-life activists gathered on the Mall in Washington D.C. this morning to send a clear message to politicians in the Capitol, and the whole country: 40 years is too long, abortion must end! But despite the frigid January temperatures, the crowd, made up largely of teens and young adults, was boisterous, with many groups chanting pro-life slogans and singing hymns as they walked.

This year's March marked the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, since which an estimated 55 million babies have been killed by abortion in America.

Rand Paul: "Right and Wrong Have Become Subservient to a Hedonism of the Moment"

By Rick Pearcey • January 26, 2013, 08:17 AM

Elizabeth Harrington reports at CNSNews.com:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) told a crowd of thousands of pro-life Americans gathered at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for the 40th annual March for Life on Friday that America is a nation “adrift" where "right and wrong have become subservient to the hedonism of the moment."

“Can a nation long endure that does not respect the sanctity of life?” Paul asked. “Can a nation conceived in liberty carry its head high if it denies protection to the youngest and most vulnerable of its citizens? Can a country founded on God-given rights continue to thrive without understanding that life is a precious gift from our Creator?"

55 Million Dead Since Roe

By Rick Pearcey • January 23, 2013, 10:04 AM

Ben Johnson reports at LifeSiteNews:

Pro-life groups today expressed their grief for the 55 million unborn children aborted since the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion nationwide and renewed their determination that the ruling – which turns 40 today – will not endure for another generation.

"Today, we remember the 55 million human beings who had the most basic right and freedom tragically stolen from them through abortion, the first right of all -- the right to life," said Lila Rose of Live Action. "Without the right to life, there are no other rights."
