Actually, the speaker was Cecilia Muñoz, formerly of the National Council of La Raza and President Obama's pick for White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Muñoz was interviewed in 2011 for the PBS "Frontline" film Lost in Detention, which contends that "more than one million immigrants have been deported since President Obama took office. Under his administration, deportations and detentions have reached record levels. The get-tough policy has brought complaints of abuse and harsh treatment, including charges that families have been unfairly separated after being caught in the nationwide dragnet."

The first woman to join a British infantry regiment has quit, and after only two weeks of training, according to the Daily Mail.

The woman could not keep up with the male soldiers and she herself admitted that she had underestimated the physical rigors of the military training. 

The RAF infantry course was 18 weeks long and started in May. The regiment is comprised of 2,000 soldiers and is designed to protect British bases and airfields around the world.

"The ban on women in British combat units was lifted in 2016 after then-Prime Minister David Cameron, head of the Conservative Party, said 'it was essential that the make-up of the Armed Forces reflected society and he lifted the ban on women serving in combat units'," the Daily Mail reports, according to CNSNews.

A coalition of pro-life leaders has reached out to Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson calling on him to stop donating to Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, pointing out that it was founded by "an outspoken racist" and is responsible for "the slaughter of minority children" through abortion.

A letter signed by Alveda King, the director of Civil Rights for the Unborn, ForAmerica President L. Brent Bozell, Richard Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, and many other pro-life leaders was sent to Starbucks on Monday -- the same day that Starbucks closes its stores for racial bias training.

What follows is a portion of the letter to Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson:

Dear Mr. Johnson:

Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger once said, "We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population."

In your April statement responding to the arrest of two African-American men sitting in one of your stores, you declared that Starbucks' "founding values are based on humanity and inclusion."

As men and women who fight for the value and dignity of every human life, we ask:

Where is the “humanity” and “inclusion” when your company matches employees’ donations to Planned Parenthood, whose founder Margaret Sanger was an outspoken racist with genocidal intentions?

This week, Starbucks is holding "racial-bias education" training for nearly 175,000 employees nationwide.

If you think this public relations fix means Starbucks is no longer complicit in racism, it's time to wake up and smell your own coffee. . . .

The left wing Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) -- linked to globalist billionaire George Soros -- says President Trump is "racist" and "dehumanizing" MS-13 gang members when he describes them as "animals."

In a tweet, for example, the SPLC states: "It is unacceptable for such racist, dehumanizing language to now be repeated 10 times on the White House website in a document that speaks for America."

This attack is pathetic and revealing, folks. And if you insist, I'll explain why.

In certain contexts, the word "animals" is one way, among other acceptable ways, to describe humans who -- as if animals -- tear other humans to shreds (the way animals do to other animals -- "nature, red in tooth and claw" comes to mind).

Among humans, to "tear to shreds" can mean to emotionally and physically rip asunder. Or in the poetry of the street, to fulfill the vicious MS-13 gang motto -- which translates: "Kill, Rape, Control." 

So wild man Trump is accurate in his civilized use of "animals." And poor old SPLC is either very stupid, very fanatical, or extremely dishonest. I suppose these three options need not be mutually exclusive.

Even more, poor ol' SPLC is out of touch. Not just out of touch with the English language, but also out of touch with the American people -- as is indicated in the news today by this: "Harvard/Harris Poll: Majority Agree MS-13 Are Animals."

You could say SPLC, in its effort to unfairly and unjustly tear Trump to shreds, is itself animalistic. At this point, SPLC could embrace its animal identity and affirm going full hyena at the moon.

Or repent. Repent of the false charge of racism, of the phony accusation of "dehumanizing," and of your own devil-awful misuse of the English language to, as it were, "Kill, Rape, Control."

The National Institutes of Health is preparing to spend millions on research studies to develop jewelry and clothes that can monitor the alcohol intake of Americans.

The agency recently submitted two grant opportunities, asking for submissions from applicants to receive federal funding to develop "wearable alcohol biosensors."

"Rapid advances are being made in wearable technology, including clothing, jewelry and other devices with broadly diverse functions that meet medical or consumer needs," according to the funding opportunity. . . .

"It is envisioned that wearable alcohol monitors will serve useful purposes in research, clinical, and treatment settings, will play a role in public safety, and will be of interest to individuals interested in keeping track of personal health parameters," the agency states, according to Harrington. 

"Designs may emphasize any of these potential market subsets or may seek to be broadly marketable."

Ah, yes: "Broadly Marketable." No doubt the secret police from authoritarian regimes around the world are already standing in line. For if wearable technology exists to monitor drink, you can also expect to see "wear tech" able to monitor in real time a host of other behaviors.

If you're going to run a safe and secure plantation, education camp, or "forward-looking" regime, it's crucial to know how often and how much workers, slaves, underbosses, rebels, rejects, and rivals are drinking, sleeping, talking, and laboring -- not to mention planning escapes, coups, or Declarations of Independence.

It's "illegal" for children to call "transgender" classmates by their actual biological sex, according to one UK elementary school that asks its students to report peers who do so.

The school offers extensive guidelines on "being a trans-friendly school" and minimizing distinctions between boys and girls.

Students at Arbury Primary School are between the ages of four and 11, according to its website. It bills itself as having "a commitment to equality in respect of disability, ethnicity, culture, national origin, national status, gender, gender identity, religion, faith background or sexual identity. . ."

It is unfortunate that Arbury Primary School does not have a commitment to the facts of life, including the biological facts of male-female diversity.

This grooming of kids in avoiding reality and in reporting classmates who rightfully rebel -- as human beings -- against the tyranny of ideological passions alienated from space-time reality seems a great way to manufacture compliant humano-droids who will trust and obey whatever Big Education, Big Government, or even Big Islam (more here, here, and here), has in mind for them.

Don't think, just obey.

Do as you're told by extremist authorities who -- as if heading up a spiritualist cult -- really don't want biological science to distract you from their plans for your life. 

There's no way this grooming, this "education," could be a breeding ground for, let's say, fascism. Right?

But there's a bright side. Do your lessons well and one day you could be in charge of the Secret Police. The kingdoms of this world could be all yours.

After the shabby treatment the University of Minnesota doled out to Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro in February, relegating him to speaking off campus rather than on the main campus despite the fact that they had easily found space on campus for arch-leftist Senator Elizabeth Warren and home state leftist Senator Al Franken, a major donor to the university has pulled their funding and shifted to partnering with Young Americans for Freedom -- the chapter affiliate of Young America’s Foundation, which had sponsored Shapiro’s speech.

No college or university should be an education camp of one-sided indoctrination (or of any kind of teaching that is fearful of open inquiry) -- lest schools become seedbeds of inhumanity and fanaticism, as so many campuses are today.

Free minds and an honest education are essential to free living and free countries.

James Woods, one of the few conservatives in Hollywood, sent out a scathing tweet about Democrats and their blocking of common-sense measures that could secure our nation’s public schools from shooting attackers.

And he's dead-on in his assessment. Democrats, sadly -- horrifically, really -- seem to use the tragedies of dead children to further illogical gun control. Like how?

Like pressing for gun-free zones, for example.

It's not as if criminals will listen to law and lay down their weapons, right?

According to Chumley, "Woods puts it this way on Twitter: 'When fanatic Muslims started hijacking airplanes, we instituted rigid TSA restrictions. Result? No more hijackings in America. It's simple enough to institute security protocols that work for schools. Why won't #Democrats support it?'"

Chumley acknowledges that not "all on the left are purposely using child shootings for political gain. Some are truly and genuinely attempting to stop the madness, stop the killings."

However, she continues, "others are political operatives who care more about curbing Second Amendment rights than putting an end to school-based violence."

Chumley reminds all concerned: "Stripping gun rights from law-abiding citizens does nothing to end violence. It only emboldens the criminals -- only puts guns into the hands of those with evil intents in their hearts, and takes away a sure defense from their would-be victims."

Here's the real-world trajectory of gun control: It ends up weaponizing the bad guys and making the rest of us sitting ducks. No child in any school on earth ought to be a sitting duck.

"It's time to start looking at more common-sense solutions," Chumley recommends, as she notes challenges that attend the "prescription medicine field," "fatherless homes," "broken homes," and the "removal of God from all-things-public."

Regarding Chumley's fourth area of concern, it's crucial to realize that the Creator-endowed pre-political, pre-governmental right to life (see the Declaration) entails the unalienable human right to self-defense.

Protecting life -- including self-defense -- truly is foundational to who we are -- to who all human beings are.

Every human being ("red and yellow, black and white") is "created equal" and "endowed" by a verifiable and knowable Creator -- and is empowered by publicly actionable information (we're talking about space-time data and principles, not privatized so-called "religion") concerning "certain unalienable rights" -- so as to make it a violation on the highest order when any individual, group, or government infringes upon who we are by suppressing our intrinsic human right to protect ourselves, our families, our friends, and our communities.

Human dignity demands human self-defense. No student "endowed by their Creator" should ever be a sitting duck.

Our greatest defense is remembering who we are.

Our greatest liberation is acting upon that information.

And our greatest schools ought to be making that wisdom as clear as day for all to see.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) on Thursday denounced Donald Trump for calling illegal immigrants "animals," without clarifying that the president was only referring to members of the transnational drug gang MS-13. [emphasis added]

"When the president of the United States says about undocumented immigrants, 'These aren't people; these are animals,' you have to wonder: does he not believe in the spark of divinity, the dignity and worth of every person?" Pelosi said at her weekly press conference.

Trump's remark came in response to a comment from Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims about MS-13.

He said the following: "We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in. We're stopping a lot of them, but we're taking people out of the country. You wouldn't believe how bad these people are. These aren't people. These are animals, and we're taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that's never happened before."

"Numerous media outlets falsely reported that Trump was referring to all migrants coming into the United States," Kugle writes.

"The New York Times characterized Trump's remarks as him having 'lashed out at undocumented immigrants during a White House meeting,' tweeting out the text of his remarks without the previous MS-13 statement for context," Kugle reports.

Speaking of animals, it may be that our pet cats and dogs can do a more honest job of reporting than some of the animals that soil the formerly mainstream media.

With week two of May 2018 now in the books, we find that CNN's ratings have collapsed even further, close to -30 percent in total viewers and an astonishing -35 percent in demo viewers. . . .

Compared to this same week last year, Fox News increased its total viewers in primetime and total day by +6 and +3 percent, respectively. While MSNBC did see a ratings drop, it was able to keep that drop in the single digits: -9 percent in total day and in primetime.

CNN's viewership drop, however, is jaw-dropping, especially when you recall just how big the news was last week.

"The media-savvy attorney who has become a household name across America has to know he has close to zero chance of succeeding in his own defamation lawsuit because he is now a hugely famous public figure who no longer enjoys the same civil law protections he enjoyed when he was relatively unknownm," Vadum continues.

"Or all of this could be an act, a kind of political theater aimed at an ulterior objective such as continuing to generate adverse publicity for President Trump to distract from his many impressive policy achievements," Vadum writes.

However that may be, according to Vadum, "The evidence continues to accumulate that Avenatti's relentless assault on President Trump and his personal lawyer Michael Cohen is part of the Barack Obama-led anti-democratic insurgency to oust the duly elected 45th president of the United States from the White House."

The Broward school district's repeated, emphatic -- and it turns out, false -- statements that Nikolas Cruz had not been in a controversial disciplinary program fit a pattern of an institution on the defensive and under siege.

Facing significant legal and political exposure over the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the district has tried to keep information from the public and put out untrue and misleading statements, frustrating parents who say this is the time for maximum transparency. [italics added]

The district is fighting in court against the release of school surveillance video. It flatly refused to issue any records regarding the shooting to the news media, in a possible violation of the state's open-records law.

"Superintendent Robert Runcie has blocked critics, including parents, from his Twitter account," Fleshler continues.

"More than two months after the shooting, a Broward Sheriff's detective told a state commission on school safety that he was still waiting for the district to provide all of Cruz's disciplinary records."

Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro announced on Wednesday that Venezuelan mothers will receive a 1.5 million bolívar deposit in their bank accounts, a "bonus" to celebrate Mother's Day in the socialist Latin American country.

According to currency exchange rates monitored by the website DolarToday -- which values the bolívar based on real market value, not government estimates -- the bonus will put $2.15 in the pockets of Venezuelan mothers.

"We will give Venezuelan mothers a 1.5 million bolívar bonus as a gift for all the mothers and grandmothers of Venezuela, that is why we will win," Maduro announced during a campaign rally on Wednesday for a presidential election he scheduled for May 20 in which he is competing against two socialists; non-socialist contenders were banned from the ballot.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection [CPB] officers have apprehended an additional 1,600 people attempting to illegally enter the country from Mexico since April 15 as a result of the deployment of National Guard troops to the southwest border, CBP and defense officials said Wednesday.

National Guard officials overseeing the border state deployments said troops helping monitor the international boundary have freed up more border agents to physically guard the border. The result has led to a surge in the amount of criminal activity agents have stopped. . . .

"As of Wednesday, 775 troops have been deployed and are on the ground providing 'direct support on the ground' in seven sectors assisting law enforcement officers," Giaritelli continues.

"Troops are providing support from the air, surveillance back-up, and assistance with infrastructure projects like vegetation clearing and road maintenance, not including to the border wall construction," Giaritelli reports.

"Another task is to specifically free up agents to leave their desks and get back out to the field," according to Giaritelli.

"The troops monitoring remote video surveillance systems have then been able to report sightings to a greater field of agents and thus, the number of apprehensions has increased, officials said," according to Giaritelli.

Four people have been shot over a 48-hour period in Sadiq Khan's London, leaving a teenager dead and a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old with head injuries. . . .

The shootings came as establishment politicians and commentators were working themselves into a lather over comments by U.S. President Donald Trump concerning the level of violence in London, delivered at a conference of the National Rifle Association (NRA), which defends and promotes Americans' constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Surgeons at a London hospital which President Trump compared to a "war zone" admitted he was right about knife crime in the British capital, but argued that guns were "no solution" to the problem, and that gunshot wounds were more difficult to repair than knife wounds.

"The doctors appeared not to understand that President Trump was not advocating for criminals using knives to be given guns instead, but for law-abiding citizens to be allowed to own arms for self-defence," Montgomery observes.

"In any event," Montgomery concludes, "the wave of shootings over the past weekend, viewed alongside statistics showing gun crime in London rose by an astonishing 42 per cent from 2015/16 to 2016/17, would appear to suggest that limiting legal access to firearms for ordinary citizens does not deter criminals from using them.

Mayors and governors of "sanctuary" jurisdictions are actually "partners in crime" with human traffickers and exploitive employers.
