Rep. Scalise, Shot in June, Defends 2nd Amendment
Susan Jones reports at CNSNews.com:
Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), seriously injured when a gunman opened fire at a baseball practice in June, is back on Capitol Hill this week, sending prayers to the victims of another gunman in Las Vegas and standing up for the Second Amendment.
Sitting with his fellow lawmakers who came to his rescue on June 14, Scalise told Fox News's Martha McCallum on Wednesday that he has not changed his mind on the Second Amendment:
"You know, what happened in my case, you had people on site to immediately encounter the shooter and take him down.
"And that happens everyday in America, where regular citizens that have their own guns because of the Second Amendment protection, are able to defend themselves against criminals."
"Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) said the Second Amendment is not about target shooting or hunting," Jones reports and then quotes the congressman as saying: "The Second Amendment is about an armed people to stand up to tyranny from a government that they would be opposed to. So we need to couch the Second Amendment in its proper light."
