Ex-"Gays" Help Texas Resist Extremist Attempts to Ban Reparative Therapy
David C. Pruden writes:
With the encouragement of ex-gays themselves and therapists who provide assistance to clients experiencing unwanted homosexual attractions, Texas Republicans meeting in their annual convention last weekend where their current party platform was passed have adopted language that specifically supports the right of Texas families to seek therapy for unwanted same-sex attractions.
The platform plank reads:
". . . we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values. We recognize the legitimacy and value of counseling which offers reparative therapy and treatment to patients who are seeking escape from the homosexual lifestyle, No laws or executive orders shall be imposed to limit or restrict access to this type of therapy."
"Thank goodness for Texas!," Pruden continues. "It seems that average, sensible Americans are beginning to fight back against this kind of oppressive attempt to promote a political perspective by regulating the right of families to protect their children or even consider their options when someone in their home may be experiencing confusing or discontented sexual feelings."
