Re: Karl Rove -- "The Architect" . . . of Defeat

By Rick Pearcey • November 17, 2012, 10:32 AM

"A surefire recipe for the death of the Republican Party is to continue to listen to this finger-pointing, blame-gaming architect of defeat, discouragement and division among the rank and file of the party," writes Joseph Farah in a column challenging Karl Rove's role in Barack Obama's defeat of Mitt Romney.

"The honorable thing and the right thing for Rove to do would be to admit his own failure and move on with his life -- giving others a chance to steer the ship next time," Farah writes.

Instead of admitting his failure, says Farah, Rove "will continue to attack and marginalize all those in the Republican Party with whom he disagrees -- even to the point of violating Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment and 'joking' about murdering them -- as he did with" GOP Missouri candidate for U.S. Senate Todd Akin.

My argument is this:

If America is to survive as America -- that is, as a nation of freedom and dignity (rooted in the Creator who is the basis for unalienable rights) -- the enduring mainstream of American identity needs a national platform for unadulterated cultural-political expression.

If the house-divided GOP establishment continues to reject this message, either the GOP will die, America will die, or a third party will rise up to speak with a clarion voice.

One way or another, a non-compromised expression of the American ideal must have a clear and coherent voice on the political and cultural scene.

One way or another, the extremism of the Democratic Party, which aggressively wars politically and culturally against the rules of freedom, must be resisted and overcome.

One way or another, the extreme racism, bigotry, and passionate hatreds now organized against the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- hatreds that this hour have an officially recognized home in the party of Obama and the Democrats -- these must be resisted and overcome.

Of course, it is possible America as America might still pass away. And she certainly will if the anti-freedom rules of radicals such as Barack Obama and the Democrats have their way.

But let us at least give America a fighting chance to reaffirm the birthright of every human being, to unlock again the potential of every individual endowed by our Creator "with certain unalienable rights."

And as long as one fights, victory is possible. Freedom under God can break out anywhere, anytime.

In other words, the GOP must embrace, root and branch, with clarity, the rules of freedom. Equally so, the GOP must reject, root and branch, with clarity, the extremist rules of hatred and anti-freedom embraced by Obama and the Democrats.

On this basis, a party of freedom and humanity can win.

On this basis, a humane vision rooted in the rules of freedom can defeat a dyfunctional vision rooted in the rules of radical unfreedom.

And on this basis, a candidate and party of freedom and humanity can win a victory worth winning.

No free-thinking person created in the image God wants to live in subservience and dependence upon a failed and failing Washington-centric idol.

Red and yellow, black and white -- we're all better than that.
