Video: Muslims Stone Christians -- in Dearborn, Michigan

By Rick Pearcey • June 27, 2012, 09:27 AM

Jamie Glazov writes at Frontpagemag.com:

In [this video], we see a small number of Christians who gathered holding Christian signs at the 2012 Dearbor, Michigan Arab festival being assaulted by Muslims with bottles, stones, and other objects.

The police do not protect the Christians or take action against the perpetrators; in the end, they reprimand the Christians and instruct them to leave.

Ever since, there has been no coverage of this outrageous event in our media. Nor has CAIR or any other Muslim organization denounced the Muslims who abused the Christians.

On David Limbaugh's "The Great Destroyer: Barack Obama's War on the Republic"

By Rick Pearcey • June 26, 2012, 08:36 AM

Jeffrey Lord reviews Limbaugh's best-seller

While the kaleidoscope of daily headlines of the last three and a half years may confuse -- from Obamacare to immigration to the economy to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, free trade, the deficit and much more -- it is understandable that many Americans may have an uneasy feeling that they have taken their eye off the ball.

In The Great Destroyer: Barack Obama's War on the Republic, David Limbaugh brings the American eye back to America's ball.

The American ball? The Constitution, the free market, and the principles of limited government that undergird the American republic.

Disturbia? German Patriotism Unleashed in Soccer

By Rick Pearcey • June 25, 2012, 10:15 AM

Arne Lichtenberg writes at Deutsche Welle:

Ever since the World Cup in 2006, collective national euphoria during major soccer championships has been part of German life. That's also true with Euro 2012. Some see the beginnings of a disturbing nationalism.

Church Sign: "Abortionists Target Black Babies"

By Rick Pearcey • June 22, 2012, 07:58 AM

Billy Hallowell writes at The Blaze:

Macedonia Baptist Church in Columbia, North Carolina, is turning heads with a new pro-life sign posted outside the house of worship. Rather than merely standing in opposition to abortion, the message alleges that abortion providers purposefully target African Americans -- a charge that is regularly waged against Planned Parenthood, among other groups.

"Ultimate Racism -- Abortion Targets Black Babies," reads the sign, which was posted last Thursday.

Rep. West: "Family Values, Not Gov't" Needed for Economic Stability in Black Community

By Rick Pearcey • June 21, 2012, 09:16 AM

Amanda Swysgood at CNSNews.com quotes remarks given by Rep. Allen West during a Capitol Hill forum on "Economic Empowerment in the Black Community":

Government can’t do it alone, but the family can do it.

My great grandmother was a slave, she put us in a boxcar, she didn’t have it in the household, but she went and earned it and she taught us how to make money.

So I do believe that you can do it, but it's going to take everyone, it's going to take the family, it's going to take the parents, it's going to take the church.

Monica Crowley: Obama an Economic Fascist

By Rick Pearcey • June 20, 2012, 07:47 AM

Jamie Weinstein writes at The Daily Caller

Conservative radio host and Fox News contributor Monica Crowley says that President Barack Obama supports policies that can most accurately be described as “economic fascism.”

“Obama doesn’t run around wearing a Carrie Bradshaw-esque nameplate necklace that says ‘Socialist,’” Crowley told The Daily Caller while defending her description of the president as a socialist in her new book, "What the (Bleep) Just Happened?: The Happy Warrior's Guide to the Great American Comeback," which was released Tuesday. “But his policies, actions, words, background and associations speak louder than any ID necklace ever could.”

Propaganda Watch: MSNBC Edits Romney to Make Him Seem "Out of Touch"

By Rick Pearcey • June 19, 2012, 10:47 AM

Erica Ritz writes at The Blaze:

After NBC was caught selectively editing the George Zimmerman police tapes to make it seem like he was volunteering racial information, MSNBC has been caught editing a clip of Mitt Romney to make him seem wildly “out of touch,” when he was really just explaining the difference between the private and public sectors.

In the MSNBC clip, Romney is shown discussing Wawa’s convenience stores like he has never been to one before (presumably because he is “too good” for such an establishment).

Introduced by Andrea Mitchell saying: “I get the feeling -- take a look at this -- that Mitt Romney has not been to too many Wawa’s along the roadside in Pennsylvania,” Romney says: “I was at Wawa’s, I wanted to order a sandwich. You press the little touch tone keypad, alright, you just touch that, and you know, the sandwich comes at you, touch this, touch this, touch this, go pay the cashier, there’s your sandwich. It’s amazing.”

Too bad the clip was taken wildley out of context.

Compare that clip with this fuller video here.

Curl: Obama a Domestic Enemy of the U.S. Constitution

By Rick Pearcey • June 18, 2012, 10:22 AM

Joseph Curl writes at the Washington Times:

The Founders set the course in a simple, concise, 35-word affirmation -- the president’s top job is to "preserve, protect and defend" the Constitution.

The chief executive does, of course, have other responsibilities, but his guardianship of the document they had just written was deemed by the Founders to be of such great import that they made him swear it -- aloud, in front of witnesses.

In 1884, Congress, having no set oath of office, wrote its own: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same . . ."

Little did they know then that 128 years later, America would face just that: a domestic threat to the U.S. Constitution.

"Civility" and the Legacy of George W. Bush

By Rick Pearcey • June 18, 2012, 10:03 AM

Steve McCann writes at American Thinker:

Excessive civility in the face of a national crisis is tantamount to indifference.

The Bush family dynasty exemplifies the patrician attitude of holding oneself above the fray after fulfilling one's pre-ordained obligation to society.

This may have been fine in the halcyon days of the past, when America's future seemed limitless and those answering to the call of duty were for the most part honorable people.

With Barack Obama at the helm, that is no longer the case.

Man May Have Plague After Trying to Save Mouse

By Rick Pearcey • June 15, 2012, 08:17 AM

Amy Willis reports at the UK Telegraph:

A man in Oregon is severely ill in hospital with a suspected case of the plague, thought to have been contracted as he tried saving a mouse from the jaws of a stray cat in his neighbourhood.

The unnamed man, said to be in his 50s, was bitten as he attempted to extract the rodent from the cat’s mouth, althought it was unclear from which animal he caught the disease.

"Taking a mouse out of a cat's mouth is probably not a good idea," said Emilio DeBess, the public health veterinarian for Oregon.

Living the Nightmare of a Conservative on a College Campus

By Rick Pearcey • June 14, 2012, 11:30 AM

From Emily Reilly at Investor's Businesss Daily:

You've heard the stories, and maybe you know someone who has dipped his or her toes into the cesspool of campus liberalism. But you don't believe that campuses are as liberal as they say.

Well, you can believe the hype. They are.

The campus atmosphere, professors and many students are just as liberal, tree-hugging and socialism-loving as a conservative might imagine.

How do I know? I have lived the nightmare for three years at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.

WPost: Pileup at White House

By Rick Pearcey • June 12, 2012, 11:53 AM

Dana Milbank writes:

Job growth has stalled, the Democrats have been humiliated in Wisconsin, the attorney general is facing a contempt-of-Congress citation, talks with Pakistan have broken down, Bill Clinton is contradicting Obama, Mitt Romney is outraising him, Democrats and Republicans alike are complaining about a “cascade” of national-security leaks from his administration, and he is now on record as saying that the “private sector is doing fine.”

Could an already horrible June "get any worse" for President Obama? Milbank asks.

Answer: Yes.

Socialist Party Covering Up Obama Membership?

By Rick Pearcey • June 11, 2012, 10:11 AM

Aaron Klein reports at WND:

Barack Obama’s 2008 political campaign may not be the only ones caught making possibly misleading statements about the sitting president’s alleged membership in the 1990′s socialist-leaning New Party.

The now defunct New Party’s founder, University of Wisconsin Professor Joel Rogers, is currently denying his organization had ever had any members, thus making it impossible for Obama to have ever been an official member. . . .

WND, however, found scores of reports from the 1990s describing members of the New Party.

Barber on Why Christians Should Vote for Romney

By Rick Pearcey • June 9, 2012, 04:17 PM

Matt Barber is an attorney who serves as vice president of Liberty Action Counsel. The following is his latest column:

It's no secret that I have been and remain a vocal critic of Mitt Romney. To say that his conservative bona fides are suspect is an understatement.

I have tremendous respect for a number of fellow evangelical Christians who say that they will not support his presidential candidacy. I expect I will anger some of them, and may even lose a few friends. Still, in November, I am voting for Mr. Romney and suggest that any Christian --Republican, Democrat or independent -- should do the same.

Jesus admonished: "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves" (Matthew 10:16). It is through this biblical prism that I shine my multicolored analysis.

President Obama is a wolf. Though he purports to be Christian, his policies are decidedly un-Christian. This man eagerly advances a culture of death. He is the most radically pro-abortion president in American history. He has dutifully signed off on -- and implemented at each opportunity --every extremist demand of the radical pro-abortion and homosexual activist lobbies.

Mr. Obama has shown utter disregard -- if not total
disdain -- for the U.S. Constitution. Not the least of his indefensible infringements is his recent Health and Human Services mandate requiring, under penalty of law, that all Christian and Catholic organizations violate fundamental church tenets by providing abortifacients, sterilization and contraceptive services to employees.

This may be the single most egregious breach of First Amendment freedom in our lifetimes. Thankfully, the church isn't backing down, has refused to comply and is fighting tooth and nail in court to reinstate constitutional liberty.

Scripture says that Christians are known by their fruit. Mr. Obama's fruit is rotten to the core. He talks like a Christian while his actions scream secular-socialist. I intend to work with every fiber of my being to see that Mr. Obama is not re-elected. To the extent this benefits Mr. Romney, so be it.

It took one word to convince me: judges.

The next president likely will fill at least two Supreme Court vacancies in the next four to eight years. Appointing Supreme Court justices may be the single most significant thing any president can do. For better or for worse, it profoundly steers law, public policy and culture at large in perpetuity.

This is our most crucial point of focus: ensuring an originalist, strict constructionist majority on the high court. If Mr. Obama is re-elected and appoints one, two or even three more Ruth Bader Ginsburgs, forget it. America, as our founders envisioned her, is dead.

Though Mr. Romney's judicial appointment record while governor of Massachusetts was erratic at best, he has pledged during this election cycle, "I will appoint conservative, strict constructionists to the judiciary."

Flip-flop? Perhaps. Still, Mr. Romney has proved that he cares about and understands political self-preservation. If Mr. Romney wins the White House and expects a second term, there is a strong chance, I believe, that conservatives can hold him accountable to his word.

Indeed, political self-preservation will provide Mr. Romney a strong incentive to honor his pro-life, pro-family conservative rhetoric. Most important, it significantly increases the chances that he will appoint originalist judges to the Supreme Court as promised.

With Mr. Obama, we know what we will get -- we've already gotten it. You need only consider his Supreme Court appointments of Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. If he is re-elected, why would we expect anything less? We're guaranteed additional counter-constitutionalist radicals.

Some might say I'm putting pragmatism over principle, but I disagree. In this case, the two are not mutually exclusive. Remember Christ's counsel: Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

My friend and colleague Cynthia Dunbar, a law professor at Liberty University School of Law, recently wrote: "In this election year, we find ourselves with only three realistic courses of action: 1) Don't vote; 2) vote for Obama; or 3) vote for Romney."

It's simple: A Christian nonvote is a vote for Mr. Obama in that it fails to affirmatively cancel out an Obama vote. Furthermore, any Christian who votes for Mr. Obama will get to take that up with God.

This leaves us with our third and final choice: Christians must vote for Mitt Romney. A second Obama term is simply unacceptable. We won't survive it.

The Bell Tolls for Government Unions

By Rick Pearcey • June 8, 2012, 11:07 AM

Pat Buchanan writes:

Ronald Reagan’s firing of the striking air traffic controllers, whose union had been among the few to endorse him, marked him as a leader willing to act against a powerful union if the public interest commands it.

Gov. Scott Walker is now in that tradition. He has just routed a recall campaign that began with state senators disgracefully fleeing to Illinois rather than provide a quorum, and mobs occupying his capitol.

The Rev. Oliver White of Grace Community United Church of Christ in St. Paul, Minnesota, has lost two-thirds of his congregation. The mass exodus from his pews started back in 2005 when he voted in favor of [so-called] gay marriage at the national United Church of Christ assembly meeting. Following his support for the measure, the majority of his 320-member flock was flabbergasted and left the church.

Target "Pride" T-Shirts Insulting

By Rick Pearcey • June 4, 2012, 09:11 AM

Madeleine Morgenstern writes at The Blaze:

Target Corp. is selling gay pride T-shirts to raise money for a group working to defeat a same-sex marriage ban in Minnesota -- and is reportedly blocking emails from one group [the American Family Association] complaining about it.

"A spokesman for Minnesota for Marriage . . . said Target’s actions are 'an insult to the overwhelming majority of their customers,'" The Blaze reports.

“Just get out of this debate and do what they’re good at,” says Chuck Darrell, according to AP. "Get out of the business of trying to redefine marriage."
