Religious and political liberal Jim Wallis asks a good question, but he gives an unbiblical, socialist, and therefore, false answer, writes Joseph Farah at WorldNetDaily.
If you consult the Scriptures, says Farah, you find not the government-centric collectivism of Wallis, but rather the economic and political self-reliance, self-governance, and even self-defense of Jesus.
"Self-defense?" you ask. Affirmative, says Farah, who then references Luke 22:36, where "Jesus admonishes his disciples to buy swords for protection even if they have to sell their garments to purchase them."
In addition, says Farah, the Bible is a "book that extols private property. It's a book that warns about the nature of government to steal from the people. It's a book that tells people to put their faith in God, not government. It's a book that teaches self-reliance and individual stewardship, not collectivism."
